Is it just me, or has Jarrod Walsh become increasingly intolerable at almost every level?

There’s a smart alecness about him which does not go down well with me at the best of times but especially when addressing revered Port legends.

He’s also so shallow in his football knowledge and makes too many faux pas for a night like last night.

There’s no substance to his radio work and the banter with Bickley and his guests is contrived.

I compare him to Andrew Hayes who had humility and was often self-deprecating with his humour.

The fact that Walsh has become the Mr Everywhere man in SA, especially for Port-related things irritates me as much as the Crows sycophant, Theo Doropoulos

He's a self-important flog. Of all things, I really started to notice at the Perfect Pear fluff how he acts like a total dick.

I remembered hearing about it during the week but only in the context of Hinkley's announcement.

That's one of the reasons I enjoyed Carr making a point of how proud he is to soon be coaching this team and how much it means to him. Makes me hope we can all feel that pride again.
I hope so Ford. So want to fall in love with my club again.

I had no idea about it until I saw this thread 5 minutes ago. Fits with the 'we only care about the opinions of those inside the 4 walls' ethos. What a club we've become. Couldn't be prouderer
Was a bit pissed off about it last night but I reckon inducting a whole team and letting them all bring their families probably is a big reason why the average member didn't get an invite. Given certain coterie group members get between 2 to 4 tickets to these type of events with their memberships and significant sponsor gets a whole table, all staff and players and their partners are invited which would include AFLW program, its not that hard to get to 700 invitees.

Every one of those 1977 players is a legend to me. The first premiership I saw live and after attending the 1976 horror the best possible antidote. I remember the 1971 and 72 grand finals glued to the radio for second place finishes.

Got an email from PAFC Events 4 Feb with an invite REH.

No email invite for me. I suspect that so few tickets are left over for members to buy, that there is some random allocation of invites to members.

Unless you are in Koch's, Richo's and Ken's good books and said we need to give PL an invite.

Same. Mum wouldn't let me go to the earlier grand finals at Adelaide Oval with the older siblings as they slept at the ground the night before to get in early. I remember the tears and utter devastation of '76, going to school hoarse from yelling so much at games and the sheer elation of '77. What a time to grow up. Listening to the way some happy clappers speak about "supporting Port" and Hinkley with almost reverence is quite frankly an embarrassment given the powerhouse club we were through sheer determination and hard bloody work.

1977 Ford Fairlane.

I remember going into the Club the next day and they had the 1977 Premiership Flag on display behind the bar. I reckon that was the first time I had seen one close up. I am not sure they gave out the big technicolor flagpole variety in 1965 when we went top. Sturt made a habit of flying their flags above the scoreboard at Unley so it gave me a great feeling to finally see one at Alberton after a long drought. Geez, and we thought 12 years was a drought.

Same here.
Can't be bothered getting dressed up in a formal black tie and suit.
Declined the invite.
The thought of being gaslighted by the Grand Poohbah and his lackies was too much of a turn off for me 🤮

Loved what Bucky said about Jack.

You listen to what Bucky said and Jack said about giving everything to win and believing they were the best players in the the competition out there and compare that to the weasel words of Hinkley about how someone has to lose and how good are the opposition and you realise what's missing when the whips are cracking.

I could and still can listen to Jack forever. We were spoilt and now we're being punished with Hinkley. The self congratulatory speech the other day at the joint presser was a real "look at me" moment again. What a peacock.

Gray well deserved, but apart from maybe Boak (longevity, consistency, ex captain etc) there should be absolutely noone from our post-2004 flag group going in. In the absence of flags, it needs to be absolute and sustained personal brilliance.

Walsh has the emotional depth of a sock puppet in a button shortage. I’m okay with him doing the Game Day MC role, but events like Friday night should be hosted by someone with far more gravitas and depth of knowledge than him. Everything about him is pretty surface level.

His Perfect Pear and Magarey Room work has developed a weird tinge of nastiness about it lately, he seems to enjoy humiliating people publicly which is ironic given he paints himself as Mr Mental Health Awareness on his social accounts.

Loves lecturing Port supporters on how to act as well, which is infuriating given he is financially reimbursed for his involvement for the club, whereas we pay for the privilege.

Be nice if he took the time to learn how to pronounce the names of Port legends like Cahill an Sorrell
