In the light of the next day… still **** this team.

Feel like a broken recon but to me it 100% comes down to effort, and Georgy was the shining example of how little the rest of the team does. Some of his defensive chases and attack on the contested ball should put 22 others to shame. Georgys efforts should be the standard across the whole group. Who cares if you stuff up, put in the effort to get the ball back and we’re in with a chance.

How many 2:1 contests where we had the +1 were lost or break even because the Blues player just went harder?

Also can anyone say we’re a worse team with Hardeman in?? His 1:1 effort on the wing last week against the suns and subsequent kick is exactly what our team should be including, not excluding. We should be rewarding the players who are manic at the ball, not the seagulls looks for easy uncontested stats.

The most alarming thing and reason for the uncompetitive footy this year….. one player on the list has improved from 2024 and that is Paul Curtis.

The bolded is an incredible achievement in its own right even before you consider the rest.

Heres a bloke that was absolutely killing it in a metaphorical sense. its like we have taken the richest chocolate mud cake and changed the recipe so much we ended up with the most basic vanilla cake .


Larkey has never shown the ability to take contested pack marks but does go alright as a support forward taking the 2nd defender, his real attribute is his set shot but we have out him in a head space where all of a sudden he thinks its a good ided to play on and snap from point blank range and miss now.

There seriously must be a whiff in the air because it would actually be difficult to engineer such an outcome. other than X and sheeze we could trade/delist whatever the rest of that list and i couldn't care less.

But it does make me wonder how much time and examination of who we are playing goes in to our Opposition from our Coaching panel

There have been some obvious ones in the Ruck. Tex stealing the ball in the ruck to kick goals. Does it regularly but did we do anything to stop it. Xerri yesterday and DeKonig. We know Curnow can split us apart but Corr ends up on him flapping about like a tuna.

No one knows I guess, but I do wonder about our analysis and subsequent game strategy

Pretty much 100% agree with every one of these. Larkey I'd have as a A grade forward and if we had depth an Elite 2nd tall forward. That he has so many goals this year whilst not really flying is testament to his quality. Needs help.

No. I'm as willing to blame umps as anyone and I thought they were garbage, but all they did was add more shit to the sandwich.

The loss somehow feels worse the night after. Carlton are shit. Their list is shit. Their coach is shit. They won't achieve anything this season. They put 150 points on us and almost did us by 100. I get that improvement is nonlinear, but this isn't what nonlinear improvement looks like. The club is broken and will need to rebuild (again) after a myriad of horrible off field decisions, including the hiring of that list management terrorist Rawlings and extending the contract of a cancerous player like Zurhaar. It's actually morbidly impressive that we've managed to **** the club up so badly over the past decade. I can't even think of an off field decision we've made during that period that has improved us in any meaningful way.

The most difficult thing for me is seeing that nothing has changed. it's the same old, heads are dropped, players are no where to be seen on the transition, no run, destroyed in the middle, just no work rate, lazy, no one running, no one moving and then its finished off with continual unforced skill errors, or trying to create plays/posessions that are not even there. It's okay for 2 years but disheartening after 5.

The chanting of "bullshit" rang loud.

The bottom six or eight players in the North team are below AFL standard, for sure. The fitness level and strength of several others might also be below par. Skills seem to be off, although it is possible that skills crumble under pressure.

But how can it be possible that umpires don't see marks such as the one by Larkey, or in other cases, pay marks such as the one where Zurhaar clearly had both hands on the ball (which triggered the crowd chant)? How do they miss the blocking and interference that occurs blatantly at one end yet pay frees at will down the other end when replays show nothing?

No wonder teams capitulate.

No wonder supporters lose interest.

It's a mugs game.

My old mate started that Chant. Started behind the cheer squad apparently. Was the mark paid to wetering that come off Zurhaars hands I believe

No need to even seek a leak. They have attacking options aplenty. Used to be play through LMac. Now they can choose LMac, Daniel, FOS, McKercher, Chom, Tucker ..... LMac to his credit, is battling as hard as ever and has been far from even being bad. And we seem to play a forward poitning triangle in the middle > little care for leaving the back gate wide open.
