I can see it now

Adelaide Oval, round 23, crows down by 5 in Tex's 300th game vs the pies.

20 seconds to go, Rankine sizzles the ball in to Tex on the lead 50m out, slight angle. Letting loose from 60, Tex sends it mid post height for his 700th goal to win it by 1 point for the crows!
I like it.

Sack Nicks (who is McRae's bunny) to make it happen!

this stage is absolutely set for a bad umpiring call or goal review

That will depend on what ladder position Collingwood is in. If they have sewn up say a top 2 spot, then no issue at all.

Seriously, I don’t need another close Collingwood loss. Seen enough over the past 4 years all but one of six has been decided by 5 points or less. If we win our next 3 (possible but unlikely) then round 10 could be another cracker.

Tex going for a mark in the goal square with 20 seconds to go. Frampton pushes him in the back then Moore chops the arms, tackles Tex high and puts him in a headlock. Tex barely touches the ball, it spills out, the high tackle lingers for 5 further seconds. The ball is 15m away from Tex

"Holding the ball" calls umpire 22 Nathan Williamson

Tex, still on the ground, doesn't immediately get up and go back to the 9m mark

"50 meters" calls 22.

The longest 50m in the history of the game is then paid. The Fox Lab measures it at 84.8 meters.

Nick Daicos receives the ball and runs 63 meters without a bounce and kicks a goal from just outside the goal square. Game over

If this happens I’m going to blame you

All depends on whether he goes on next year though? Agree he won’t get to 700 this year as still needs 47 goals in 20 games or less (above his goal averages for this year and overall for 5 years)

I can’t see why Tex doesn’t go on next year at this stage. He is still performing and is very reliable on a weekly basis (perhaps more so than TT and Fog even). Had this discussion with 1970crow and Cromulant on the weekend when they preferred Curtin to play over Tex. If we are fair dinkum as a club about winning games now to make finals Tex plays every day of the week before Curtin.
Shouldn't come as much of a surprise to hear that from 1970 given he's wanted Tex moved on for 5 odd seasons now.

Tex is still comfortably best 22 in my book. Multiple goal scoring in 4 out of 6 games. Averaging, 2.33 goals, 13.5 disposals, 5+ marks, 4 I50s, 2 tackles a game.

Not to mention that he's probably the most dangerous F50 ruck threat in the AFL now Hawkins has retired.

His stats show very little drop off 1/4 way through 2025. If any.

We are at Round 6, worth noting.

Present form is all we can go off though. And Tex's present form is better then probably 75-80% of key forwards in the league right now.

It should be noted, we still haven't played 5 of the bottom 6 sides either. Still got some very ordinary teams to come on their current form!

Collingwood are our boggy team. I remember sitting at Football Park in a preliminary final in 2002 where we were odds on to get into the GF, and the Pies bashed us.

Agree. He will go around again next year and hit 300 games.

Us beating Collingwood, good one.

Where will he sit on our all time list? 5-7 for me.
If he crosses the 300 and 700 threshold then he's in very rare air for me. If he doesn't, he's still in that range, but man I'd love him to tick both off.

Sidenote, If he does hold this pace and play on next year there are a few very big names on the all time goalkickers list he could surpass too.

Pav (700)
N. Riewoldt (718)
Josh Kennedy (723)
Wayne Carey / Gordon Coventry (727).

Would require 1 hell of a wag of the careers tail in stats. But not impossible to pip of at least a few of those lads.

Are you a Port supporter?

Your ability to re-write history makes me wonder

Do the AFL at least issue an apology after the game for the umpires making the (many) wrong decision(s)?

Well, they have a full time employee whose sole responsibility, given the volume of them, is to try to keep up with writing those letters to the AFC.

We wouldn't want to put the guy out of a job.
