Autopsy Round 7, 2025: Hawks pluck the Eagles

goodness me, there are some incredibly ignorant comments here, I guess from people who have never played the game.
Chol has been nothing short of fabulous this year, the job he has done has been nothing short of amazing.
Whether forward or around the ground, he has been a star. Thank goodness we have him, as in the absence of Dear and Lewis the Hawks would really be struggling.
If he continues to play like this, and in the very unlikely event we get no further injuries of note, I am honestly not sure how you fit Lewis in the team. For a 200cm ket forward, his ground work and pressure is absolutely elite.

Continue to muck up the basics. Time to see players being predictable to each other. I want to see players helping each other out, communication in the back line seems to be a worry. Our work without the ball was excellent, just want us to use the ball in a way we can be proud of.

Thought he found ways to put himself in good positions and worked into the game. Just needs to be played if we want him to keep getting better
Agree Chubbs. Henry has a high football IQ and just needs to keep playing to get used to the pace of AFL. Bad luck for Nash but could be a blessing in disguise if HH comes on.

Quite a few concerns, Mitchell didn’t look overly impressed on the bench post-game.

Scrimshaw second concussion of the year..worrying with how bad Sicily has been.

Gunston AA?

Would love Serong to come in next week. Imagine it will be out of CJ, Finn and Serong to fill the two spots left by Amon and Scrinshaw

Crowd near me was brilliant including ‘everybody!’ revving 6-7 sections all on his own on level 2.

Sorry to hear others didn’t have a good time - best thing to do is to continually report to the ground and the club. They’re happy to give these folks a spell.
Yeah I was level 2 and “Everybody!” cheering guy was a few rows in front of me. Great passion, though thought he was going to have a stroke. Seats felt like the stadium equivalent of Jetstar - knees lodged firmly against back of the seat in the row in front. Marvel is such a soulless place compared to the G.

We got the win and the 4 points to move into fourth position. So have to be happy with that side of things.

I doubt Mitchell would be happy with that performance though. We’ve got a long way to go if we want to be competing at the end of the season.

We’ve had injuries but the lack of improvement from the start of the season has been very disappointing.

Feels like the people who whinge about Mabs need to go back and watch some game where we had Kosi and TOB as our key forwards.

Love the Chols Royce, and genuinely think he would flourish if the crowd got behind him whenever he got the ball. The Chol chant last week was fantastic for his confidence, I'm sure

Verbally abusing Hawthorn players

Disgusting language being used around families

There is a line and it was crossed
Security involved
I am tired of oafs at the footy - yeah they pay their money but abusing your own team - at any time - is just pathetic but doing it after you win - that's embarrassing.

Bank the win and hope some of our players can turn their form around in the next month.
Losing Amon and Scrimmes for next week is a big negative.
What happened to Amon? I watched the game & somehow missed this.

Going to say this once and once only

If you were in the group of fans above the Hawks race during the game today on ground floor

Bin your membership
Look at yourselves in the mirror
Be better

Despicable supporters
Well said. Couldn't bear us becoming a pack of headf***ed morons who make "realfan" videos abusing the players of their own team.

Just got home, traffic was pretty heavy, currently watching the replay. Interesting comment from Mitchell during pre game interview, regarding Eagles playing long kick game and it happened during the match.

Bit worried during first quarter, eerily similar feeling like last week. But then bang bang bang goals. Thankfully it's stil April, and we got time to fix and refine things( ball movement, goal kicking or kicking in general, etc).

Saw glimpse of last year slick ball movement today, so no panic button yet.

I'm loving watching Gunners turn back the clock.

We aren't humming yet but we don't need to be, it aint August. Most of what's going wrong is controllable on our end.

Huss played well, Wards last quater was excellent, Chol is having a fantastic year. And, Dear looked great in the 2's.

It's a week to be happy not grumpy.

this statement is laughable
How?
Output has been way down on last year.
Hasn't had more than 22 touches in any game this year. Was subbed with 4 touches against Port and had 12 v Geelong last week.

Sure he can tackle, and can block for other mids, but you need to do more than that if you're a starting 3 mid in a top 4 side.

By the way, if you watch Mcqualter's press conference there's a pretty interesting moment around 4:30 where he's asked about Barrass going forward. Seems obvious he thought is was blatant disrespect. Either just not taking the game seriously, or trying to get TB a junk goal against his old team to rub their noses in it.

He didn't look impressed, did he?

Mitchell explained it well in the presser that he would like experienced players to have positional flexibility. This isn't a completely new thing - TB and Scrim were both having goal kicking practice at training so it's likely something we've wanted to do for a while.

That being said TB looked completely lost as a forward. Surprised it wasn't Battle.

That's how I read the TB move.

if TB had got a goal, he would have moved back immediately and his career stats would have read 1 goal for and against WCE

Have the same question as well when we saw him in our forward line. But then saw him stretching and limping so 🤷.

But what's wrong with trying different match up, position and tactics? Our undersized forward looks slightly better when Barras up there. Cant wait when Mitch Lewis able to play.

Don't mind listening to McQ, he seems to have some sensible thoughts on the game. And it did seem a really odd decision by Sam.

But coming into the year when we were set to add TB and Battle, the whole point was we might end up with ability to send multiple different players back and forward, and we've still got Frost unable to get a run... so why not try it out when the game isn't much of a contest? They were never in it.

The unkind response would be that if you don't want people experimenting on you, be better. 🤷‍♂️
