There’s a lot of pro gun lobby propaganda being put out to act as if these WA laws are “too restrictive” - here are the facts.
Hunters are still allowed 5 guns each, primary producers 10.
Mental and physical health checks will be conducted to obtain a licence
Guns will be taken off those holding restraining orders
Stronger gun safes monitored by CCTV
Restrictions on rifles and magazine capacities.
Farmers will still be to shoot pests, they just are being restricted from the next Port Arthur. 52 dead is still 52 too many.
When i say city folk who know sfa about the bush - clearly i was speaking about you.
The port Arthur shooter had multiple semi automatic weapons.
For the uninitiated - this means all you have to do is pull the trigger. Over and over. The weapon reloads itself. So you can get a well aimed shot off every couple of seconds from a lying position. Or an aimed shot from standing position every couple of seconds.
This is how he was able to kill 52 people. In the time it takes 50 people to run out of range you can slot them all even with a change to another weapon.
We made these weapons illegal and melted them down. A long time ago - around 30 years ago. We haven’t had a mass shooting like that as a result.
The weapons we have now have to be cocked every time you fire them. So to make aimed shots takes a lot longer. You can’t must blast away and kill 52 people because they will run off. Or someone close to you can wrap a baseball bat around your head when you are cycling the action.
Now instead of ten slow cycling rifles, you can only have five.
Exactly how many rifles do you think mass shooters plan on carrying with them?
“Oh dear I’ve only got five rifles now - best can the mass shooting”
here’s a hint, a practised shooter can change a magazine faster than he can put down a rifle and unsling another. If I were planning a mass shooting - I’d have 2 rifles tops. Would prefer a rifle and a pistol though. Rifle with ten mags and a pistol with two. Stupid American movies make people think that you have to have 25 weapons when you go on a spree.
Btw I’d have a think about this bit:
. The majority of this state don’t want depressed farmers grabbing unsecured rapid fire rifles ….
The rapid fire rifles left the building 30 years ago…
Can you point out the mass shootings we’ve had since the gun buy back 30 years ago?with large magazines and taking it out on society. That’s the decision of the majority and you rural types will have to live with that.
I’ll wait
I don’t mean to be rude but your post is so utterly bereft of anything that even resembles a clue about firearms that it actually reinforces my point, you need people who actually have some knowledge on the subject. Literally everything you posted was based in ignorance.
