Exciting game, but realistically, compared to the rest of the competition this game was...

Kids Laughing GIF

Gross was taking the game on and having a crack so not really a mistake ..Sometimes they come off and occasionally they get caught .. It’s part of his natural game ..
You're not going to murder a kid playing in his 4th game, but 100% it was a mistake.

Just lacked game awareness.
He just had to kick it.

I'm a huge fan though.

Hmm. Footy ay.

The boys deserve a win, either that or the Bombers would have been fine. Had our chances, failed to take them in the third and early fourth.

But **** they fought. Sick for Gross because he was so instantly impactful. Needs to start from here on in, and if he doesn’t it’s only because he has the week off for rest if needed. Senior players around him saying kick it (hard to read but looked to me like take the shot not just pump it in).

Ryan in the middle exceptional but we seemingly went away from it in the fourth? Harley fantastic. Cripps really good.

Waterman and Kelly such poor finishing (plus some glaring misses from Flynn and Owies but Jake in particular needs to be finishing those).

Stiff. It is building. That win will be the pressure valve release they need.

He did the same v GWS and kicked a goal from the 50 m , I think that was his intention again .. He backed himself in and was gunned down a metre short .. Died having a go ..

Biggest positive for me was Liam Ryan picking up and consoling Gross. Outstanding leadership.

Cripps was good, looked like he was settling the troops abit at high forward stoppages too. A mature performance

Waterman is an allowable mistake, as it's rare. Watching the game, I (we) just knew Kelly was going to miss. He always does.

Dunno why we pulled Ryan out, he was really dangerous in the guts.

It would have been really hard for Gross to come on as the sub, in such a hot game, and pick up the speed.
I think he took the right option but he just didn't have the pace of the game fully.
Great quarter overall though.

Owies, I just don't get. Mini's metric is hard to quantify on this one.

Had two or three clean touches early and just felt super assured any time the ball went near him which, for all his genuinely good games, is rarely one of his strengths.

The second that kick in the third sat up on his head I could all but guarantee he would goal somehow, and he did. Was the cleanest game in a long time for him (plus all the usual hard running tackle stuff).

Poor skills and structures are killing us and we lost it at team selection. Effort is there but we are a long way from playing anything close to finals footy

Same thoughts here bro, that second goal was gravy, even though he had to tap down it was always going in.

I'm not an Owies fan but he kicked 2 goals and really should've had 4.

The brockman on the ball trial is worth persisting. His strengths are his clean touch and craftiness in traffic, and being at stoppage allows him to use it. Youve got to have high work rate to play high half forward/wing these days and that's not his go.

Glad to see kelly out of the midfield and hope it's largely permanent. If he doesn't play well at half forward it could be all over for him unfortunately.

I never like getting involved in a pile on, but F×#* me can we just get Gross some full games at AFL level. If only for the energy he brings. Let the kid run around on a HFF or wing and make mistakes, give us some highlights and develop at the level.

Respect to duggo if he's playing injured but we're desperate for more from our leaders and we're not getting enough from him atm.

Gutting to lose it, morale could use a W big time.

Surprised to see Flynn getting pelters, I thought he and Bailey paired really well today and that’s what gave us a chance half the time. Hell, we had big runs of clearance domination our way which is as rare as anything for us.

Nank would have given either of them a bath. Think they both played their role (and then flexed their experience against Sims) really well in the middle.

Tough bitter loss.

Think i'll keep to some niche positives.

Elijah Hewett mentioned that the fellas didnt protect Harley Reid enough. Nice to see him come in with a few other Eagles and pull the Tigers players off Reid at one point.

Sandy Brock looks like a very handy player. Came off to intercept a ball late in the 3rd or early 4th quarter, was a really smart decision where he backed himself. Interested to see where he goes. With Bazzo banging down the door in the WAFL and Gov coming back, probably looks like he (Sandy) would hold his spot more than Edwards.

Got all the time in the world for the boy. Works hard, hits the contest hard, doesn't stop trying.

The two 50m free kicks and consequent goals cost us this game.

15 lead changes, this game was always coming down to the wire.

They both were as soft as butter too. Proud of our effort today!

I thought Ric would be far too much experience for us as an established foundation playing group. With Gov our it was event tougher, Allen out was icing on the cake for our defence. To fight out what could have easily been a win was a good effort if not very painful. Good to feel the pain again.

A random positive - Brock showed bit late.
