I do not see a single AFL trait with Archie May. I'm genuinely shocked with the level of press around him leading up to the MSD.

If he makes it, it won't be the first time I've gotten one wrong, but I really don't see an AFL level talent there.

In the event that we do take him, people will have to remember that he is still developing. He isn’t going to be an immediate impact player, being only 20.

My biggest question mark with him is his lack of contested marking and overall physicality. In all of the games I’ve seen him play (more so at Sandy) he really relies on his leading to get opportunities to score. The eye test suggests that Athletically, he doesn’t have a huge amount of upside either.

So the selling point? He is 198cm, decent lump of a lad already and will be pretty solid once he fills out. Solid goal kicking technique and I’d say good forward craft. So there is a bit there imo.

You also wanted Caleb Ernst from Coburg last year, but he was dropped a week before the mid-season draft and hasn’t played for Coburg since. Given that, I wouldn’t necessarily consider this your area of expertise.

My mate coaches against him in WAFL and says he has most upside of any young key forward in the comp. He also rates Sellwood.said he's already a better player than guys we have playing at moment.

So, Dermie dips his wick and Archie May be shite but The Schnoz doesn't smell anything fishy.

Even if Brady passes, I don't think * passes on anything over the height of Raso.

I’d say that’s fair re his agility. Doesn’t have a big turning circle for a big man.

Speed looks avg (which isn’t overly concerning for a big man) and leap doesn’t seem all that impressive.

In saying all that, I’d be happy if we took him.

Maybe getting more than 20 disposals more than once in the last 2.5 seasons at VFL level might get him closer to Dylan Moore also.

I dunno, he’s a 1 in a 100 at his size. Hes hardly putting up Shaun Mannagh VFL numbers…

He’s having his break out VFL season and it’s 15 touches and a goal a game…

Cooper Harvey is averaging 13 touches and 2.5 goals per game…

If people want another Ned Long it’s probably Joel Trudgeon.

Hes not flashy by any means, but 23 years old, 32 touches a game, 7 tackles and almost 9 clearances per game…

2.0 contested marks and 2.0 goals per game at 20 is also good going in the state leagues.

Theres pretty much nobody within 3-4 years of his age not on an AFL list doing that.

Moose averaged 2.5 CM / 1.8 goals per game so far at VFL level this year by comparison.

That's great. But I reckon there's a bit more work done by all the recruiters on players with interviews, background/medical info and GPS/Champion data stats on these players than what you've got access to.
Wait and see what happens. Could be some games going on with players teams are linked to.
