Scandal AFL auditing third party payments from Geelong

That’s the best you’ve got ?

‘The nose beers scandal was swept under the carpet’ was pretty hard hitting stuff it must be said, from your side of things.

It was a really big scandal, for starters, and the sweeping of it under the carpet included our head coach directly addressing it.

But it’s not the same thing, that’s what’s hilarious about it.
Cats were cleared lol
The Crows got done for Tippet having third party deals outside of the cap, even when they had the cap space to absorb it.
The AFL wanted to use Adelaide as the example of what will happen if you dare to not put everything through the books.

Meanwhile, Melbourne got caught match fixing to gain a PP and the AFL didn't take one draft pick away. Essendon got caught using illegal performance enhancencing drugs and only lost one years draft picks, and were allowed to have the number 1 pick the following year.
Give it a spell. The AFL has different rules for different clubs.

What are you doing? You're a Hawthorn supporter sticking up for Geelong? This wont go down well with your people

I just report what I've been told, and I have better sources than Caro.

Hawks supporters on my board weren't happy when I told them that Harley will nominate Geelong. Hawthorn and Pies are still not without a chance, but that's only if Cats can't facilitate a trade trade this season, which I don't think that's likely to happen.

I didn't think they necessarily have different rules for different clubs, I think they just make it up as they go along, most of what they care about is optics and damage control. Does anyone actually think differently to this?

You have a club caught match fixing for a PP, and the AFL doesn't take one pick away from them.
The reason they covered up for Melbourne is they have a pokies licence and if they were caught match fixing it would have brought the AFP, VICPOL and the gaming regulators onto Melbourne which would, and should, have seen the club shut down.

They protected a Victorian team who were guilty of the worst thing possible in the game, match fixing. Was there gambling involved?
It's the biggest disgrace the AFL has ever done, and seeing what they did to the Crows over Tippet, and how they copped more than Essendon did draft sanction wise, then absolutely the AFL has two sets of rules.

When Andrew D was on 5AA, he was asked by Rowie why Essendon got less draft sanctions than Adelaide did and his answer was "Essendon self reported and Adelaide didnt". That was a 100% lie. Adelaide self reported and Essendon was shredding documents.

It's disgusting that a club sponsored by Ford for 100 years gives it's players free cars.
If it's an F150, F250 or F350 yank tank, than the only real punishment is stripping of all premierships and no draft picks for 10 years.

Not for the alleged rort but foe the sheer lack if taste in car chosen.

If it's a mustang than it's all good.

a little token slap on the wrist to give Geelong fans another 15 years of ammunition "they audited us and found nothing!!" we all know your players were juiced up

Whatever Geelong have been found to have done will only be about 10 percent of the truth.
Let's not forget how Geelong used to employ players family members either. It was common knowledge that Costa employed Dangerfields parents before he moved back to Geelong. Not only that but when Adelaide played Geelong at Geelong they had both his parents in the Geelong Football Club corporate box to watch it.

Nah, nothing to see here.

Were allowed top-up players for everyone suspended but Port were denied a top-up slot for Monfries. Bizarre decision that.

Not reading anything in this thread but am assuming the following:

1. Geelong fans in unison are saying nothing wrong here/small fine with a few saying 'everyone does it' or something similar
2. Certain fans from clubs likely to be Hawthorn or Richmond posting in high volume and asking for the most excessive punishment possible
3. All other fans not covered by 1 and 2 being reasonable and expecting some sort of actual (not token) sanction involving draft picks or something that actually impacts Geelong. Not just a fine that some corporate will cover.

All pointless though.

The AFL sweep under the carpet department (approx 70% of their paid employees) will limit the punishment which will only be financial and a fairly insignificant amount. They'll be told that there's a suspended element to the punishment (which will include things that actually matter) and the AFL higher ups will privately have a chat with Geelong and ask them not to get caught again.

The media try so hard to make an anti Geelong narrative.
The headlines over these discretions are ridiculous to get clicks. Not worth your time.

The easiest fixture now gets released? It’s true we have it good from here but what convenient timing. Release it just before we play eagles.
Where’s the who had had the hardest fixture articles?
Most games missed through injury. Let’s not make that known. If it were Collingwood we would know all about it just like we did when they played Freo.
But hey the pies lost to the injury hit Cats, let’s not mention that.
Pies are da best lol.

Dude, the media is chockablock with Geelong supporters.
So far away from an anti Geelong narrative.

I think they should have the 2008 Premiership taken off them, and given to whoever they played in the Grand Final.

Yep, that might take some of that pain away.....

Edit. I meant 2009, but this has got a funny response below, so I'm not changing it.
