I am going to tbe game Saturday, hoping for a win.
But last time I watched a Suns V Dokers game here, Dockers were un backable favourites...... it rained........ we got smashed?

Between 5 and 25 mil expected.

Picking Darcy in the rain would be suicide.

Aish or Noddy in as sub, replacing Cooper is the smart move.

You're not expecting a stoppage heavy game in the wet?

That's exactly why we would want the actual ruckman over Voss.

Champion data have poured cold water over having dual rucks in a team.

Whatever advantage that is gained at stoppage by having Darcy is undone with his inability to impact the game in transition. Jackson is the future.
No. Champion Data have poured cold water on the importance of the "2nd ruck" role relative to that player's primary role. Not exactly a revolutionary concept.

Precisely 0 people have claimed that any 2 rucks, or indeed most 2 rucks, work well together. Liam Reidy should never play fwd-ruck in any circumstance (some may argue that sentence is correct even if you take out "fwd-ruck"). We've seen for a few years that Darcy and Jackson is an exception to that, largely off the back of Jackson's versatility. For the past couple seasons, that's been our best combo. If Darcy's washed rather than "just building" or if Jackson has the ability to last in the ruck for many consecutive games/is less vulnerable to the bigger rucks, that changes.

Fwiw, an article today used Champion Data player ratings to determine whose performances move the needle for a team most. Darcy and Jackson were Freo's top 2: https://www.afl.com.au/news/1331215/the-barometer-your-clubs-most-important-player

A fit and firing Darcy, maybe. I think he is 3 weeks of WAFL games away from being ready. Give him this week, and then the game during the bye and then we can see.

That's a lot of people.

Say we lose and are 6-6.

We have 7 games at Optus and all winnable, hardest games being the Hawks and Lions. The rest are all teams below us.

Away games against PTA, COL, SYD, WBD

Not so dire.

I mean if we want top 4, it’s not ideal.

Most games are coin tosses except Pies and GC away, and North at home, we probably spilt the toss ups 50/50 based on performances to date.

Or exactly why Voss should be prefered over Darcy.

Witts v Voss is a recipe for Gold Coast clearance after clearance.

I'm not expecting as much transition play in the wet. It will be kicks to the line, stoppage. Throw in. After stoppage.

We need an actual ruckman against Witts in his most impact environments.

Even at full strength in past years and in better form than the opposition, we don't win at Gold Coast.

Sit back and hope for the best this weekend but don't expect a win. Will make an upset that much more enjoyable.
Swans at home, Melbourne and Saints away. Three games we lost to teams below us on the ladder means we have to make up for it with 3 upset wins against teams above us on the ladder. We pegged one of those back against GWS and I think we need GC to be the second one if we're any chance of being serious this year. We have the team (we have the technology) and we have confidence from 3 solid performances in a row. Young and maybe Walker are the only players missing who are genuinely critical omissions so I don't think injuries is an excuse this week.

The Suns are good but still novices at this winning malarkey and aren't used to being the hunted yet. This is the game where JL and the boys can truly redeem the aforementioned losses and stamp themselves on the comp as a real force. I am really looking forward to this, something i wouldn't have thought possible ~1 month ago. Let's do this Freo.

Actually I think its unlikely GC go with two specialist rucks in the rain and instead go with Mac Andrew as their second ruck. In the wet the ball spends more time on the ground.

Is he going to be able to play after that ankle injury last weekend?
