It is technically correct because the umpire said stand and he moved . However what I don't understand is why we can't just allow players to move backwards on the mark even after stand is called . As long as the player is moving back towards the the 5m zone without stopping why not just let that be an exception to the stand rule ?

I might be wrong, but it feels Manuka isn't really a stronghold for the home side in the Giants like Ballarat, Tasmania, Darwin etc is more the Dogs, Hawks, Suns. Or even a big homegrounf advantage. Seems the Giants have lost quite a few bit there from memory.

What allow players to come in and close down the quick play on option, and then go back and take their place in the zone?

I mean its the exact thing they brought the rule in for. You can make a choice between those option.
