I suspect Port Adelaide will press Butters to make a decision one way or another prior to this years trade period as it would be in their best interests to trade him out and maximise their asking price of multiple first round picks whereas if they wait until next year they will only receive one compensation pick if he leaves as he would be a restricted free agent.
Yeah and they get a couple back so they could finish higher next year so the pick could be 12 or somthing but port will match the bid force a trade like danger

problem is no one can stump up the asking price

Article made it pretty clear it will be next year. Shame as I’d love him in the jumper next year

More and more clubs are going to be motivated to move on players for better offers than they’d get for FA compo a year out of free agency. Hopefully we can get in both his and Port’s ears and give both an offer they can’t refuse.

Yeah, I can understand players choosing Geelong for the lifestyle of living down the coast and let's be honest, Geelong is a super club that is always competitive and makes players better. But I can't imagine a highly professional player being offered insane money choosing a Melbourne club based on the suburb of its training venue, as opposed to the actual club, its facilities, coach, list, success prospects and outside of football opportunities etc. Might be that weighing that up a player chooses Bulldogs, but I doubt it would be because of the cheap Banh Mis in Footscray and avoiding a bit of a drive.
mate you clearly haven't eaten enough of those cheap banh mis, they'll make a bloke do seriously illogical things

Note to HFC - build a good banh mi joint in the KCC.

Springvale is a 10 minute drive from the KCC.

Sponsorship deal with Bun Bun incoming?

I used to love driving until I moved to Melbourne. Having to cross the city every day like that would absolutely factor into job decision making if I had multiple lucrative contracts on the table.
I drove from the Western suburbs to Braeside (Moordialloc) for 12 months for a job and it nearly drove me mental 😬

All the way over the West Gate, down M1 to East Link and then to East Link to Braeside, not fun!

Do the club's need the players in site every day of the week though? If it was say four days at Dingley it might not be too bad a drive if he did it off peak.

Mulgrave Hot Bread and Cafe > Bun Bun.

And I'll fight anyone that says otherwise.

Anloi Deli in the Springy shopping centre is where it's at.

Mulgrave Hot Bread is a good shout though. Do some nice pastries too.

Roughy needs to go around and get a tasting board and have it delivered to Butters ASAP.

Is there even anything in the media linking us to Banh Mi this off-season or is this all just wishful thinking?

Might belong in the Hypothetical Lunch Thread.
Everyone has heard it Banh Mi.

Butters wont leave.

Read the comments today.

He is just building his value for the next contract time.

Its plainly obvious.

Focus on what's real.

You want players that want to get out of a joint to improve and have better opportunity and of course $$$$.

The next three weeks should flush out the whispers.

The Blues VS Port smashing should start the ball rolling.

There is a good Vietnamese bakery in Parkmore shopping centre in Keysborough only a short drive from the KCC.

SEN reported last night that Port Adelaide had told Butters they will match any offer made to him in free agency next year.

Suggests to me that if they are willing to let him go then they expect to get more than a good compo pick. If Butters wants the Dogs then they (the Dogs) might not be prepared to trade this year.

It won't be ward mate
Especially with him only just re-signing / extending. In regards to what SYL is insinuating there's a fair few players that can be used as trade bait so take your pick on who he meant but I'd assume this a player/s that are on the fringe of our best 23 or maybe even just inside it.

Players like Hustwaite, Serong, Ramsden, Ryan, Maginess, Reeves, Macdonald, Mitchell, Blanck, etc. wont garner much value.

I'd be loath to lose a young gun like Weddle, Mackenzie, Mraz, Ward, McCabe, Butler or MacDonald. Though I'd probably make peace pretty quickly with the latter two being any part of a deal for Butters, once the first few interviews are uploaded.

If we have to lose senior players, then I'd be fine with using any of Worpel, Nash (can't see that ever happening though), CJ and Morrison for a deal with Butters. Maybe Lewis too, depending on how he finishes the season.

Regardless of what we do, I'd hope we keep:
Forwards - Dear, Wizard, Ginnivan, Moore, Chol
Mids - Meek, Newcombe, Day, Mackenzie, Ward, D'Ambrosio
Backs - Scrimshaw, Battle, Hardwick, Barrass, Amon, Impey, Weddle, Sicily

Surely not. The obvious one is Worps, but we won't get a huge amount for him.
I reckon the suggestion is that you'd be able to bundle the Worps compo with Carlton's 1st (Top 10), our 2026 1st & 2027 1st.

That's 4x1sts (depending on Worps' compo).

I'd hope that we'd not even consider trading 4x 1sts for a single player (without multiple 2nds coming back), but it's a very big trade hand to shop with.

*I don't thin Worps is leaving, by the way.
