Feels bad to say it but I'm not sure whether a rusty Muz would outperform Butts atm. Cherry ripe Muz is a better player but last time he returned from injury, his form was lukewarm.

Zero reason to rush Muz back, zero.

I hope so. However, the pessimist in me is thinking it's about Nicks recognizing that we have shortcomings in the midfield and he thinks that Murphy could be an answer.

The selection of Murphy on the bench almost forces a 'like for like' sub. It's still better than having say another tall on the bench but yeah.

There would be some good posts about Curtin being played on a wing as well. A number of posters here could see that he should be played there, and a bunch of others argued against it. I remember that discussion.

What an absolute weapon Dan Curtin is on the wing.... Perfect position for him as can influence everywhere and will always outmark his opponent.

That last passage of play where he gathered the ball cleanly, broke through a tackle, sped away and bounced and kicked perfectly 50 metres to TT... ELITE.

that breakout game will give him stacks of confidence. Could be a real X factor in September

He's fast and agile enough to play as a regular winger, but tall and strong enough to easily outmark most regular wingers. If he stays there, he's going to be a real headache for opposition.

Opens up so many possibilities. When he's marking like that, our big three can still be marking options elsewhere, and his kick will find them.

None are mine but I was not enjoying seeing Curtin playing his nothing role in the forward line. At that point he might as well have been dropped if they weren’t going g to actually give him a true role.

As soon as he went to the wing he looked like he belonged.

Hard to ****ing believe what we did with him last year playing him deep in defence at times. FMD

Saw it live at the ground. His movement and positioning all over the ground was sensational. Fabulous game from him.

Won’t win finals if we still have two of Murphy, Smith and Laid playing.

Can’t afford to carry such passengers while also giving Milera games. (And sure he got the most possessions but it was a bit of a zero damage game IMO)
