But do you Rob Peter to pay Paul? He is so good defensively
Yeah I get that. We were saying the same thing about Dawson before he was moved into the midfield.

I think if there's high potential there, make the move and fill the need down back with someone like Bond. Easier to fill a defensive role than find a good Midfielder.

What are you on about? There were very few people on here satisfied with Dawson playing purely in defence.

Good: Plan A. Ground ball. Next gen boys becoming the men.
Bad: Field kicking early was ordinary. 65%. Connection or execution?
Ugly: Missed opportunity to get game time into next gen.
Ugly Aside: Kneeing in the back for some reason is allowed?

Good:
Having a bye week and getting everything going again
Richmond actually played pretty well, they defended hard and played with spirit.
Dan Curtin, we haven't got many top 10 drafts right but this was top shelf (we traded 2 first rounders for this higher pick from GWS)
Milera was elite across half back, he has his composure and skill settled in
Dawson had a fairly innocuous game but his stats are fantastic
Loved MM up front, loved the fact that Nicks said it was his idea then remembered how this board will react to that
I'm a Sam Berry fan and his leg power and strength over the ball is something else.
Daniel Talia/Jordon Butts, I can't tell them apart.

Bad:
Pay the head high tackles, of course there is a HUGE crackdown on our players for even daring to take advantage of the rules. How dare do what half the other clubs do.

Ugly:
Tom Lynch is an average footballer, a huge sook and a pathetic leader. He should be speaking with Rory Sloane about what its like to lead in a very poor football club. Not once did Rory throw hands, punch on, snipe blokes on the ground or carry on like that in 2020-2022.

Goal kicking was very average again.

Our form is wallpapering the Tex cracks at the moment.

He's a non entity when the ball hits the deck or is turned over. His marks are predominantly either by pushing the defender and getting away with it or by staying down and it falling into his lap.

You'd hope it's being talked about "inside the 4 walls".
I think the more concerning thing with Tex at the moment is his in play decision making. Seems to turn the ball over a bit with poor decision. I think sadly Father Time is chasing him down quickly. Hope it’s just a form slump

Good - got the win as expected, and comfortably enough. Curtin excellent. Max experiment looks a good idea when needing flexibility coming into the finals. Really pleased with a passage of play in the last where Curtin goaled and we had an awfully congested forward line and kept flicking it about to find someone loose. This will be important in Sept, so nice to find a way to goal in traffic.

Bad - not much, although our first qtr looked like we had a 2 week break in Ibiza - very rusty. Tex still concerns me also - just so slow, and not having as great an impact as he needs to (footpassing skills are off) - and was almost lucky that a few dropped in his lap. Not sure we can keep him in the side if we want to go deep in finals. I'd like to see Muzz up forward instead of Tex, with Butts holding his spot down back quite well atm.

Ugly - Lynch. First when he seemingly tried to stomp on Worrell's hand / head, then the wild round-house right. This flog should've been suspended the week before for a cheap shot to the back of an opponent's head, so hopefully the tribunal will send him a message this time!

Watching extended highlights: after Max kicked his 3rd (all 3 split the middle, btw) one of the Ch7 commentators noted wryly that
"Michalanney has risen 150 places in the Coleman Medal Ladder ..." :laughv1:.
Dark Horse, storming home ...? :sneaky: (he's 'only' 44 behind Cameron!)

We had a week off

Any injury excuse comes from today. Nicks mentioned management not injury

Why wasn't Tex managed
He clearly said Rachele had had soreness at training. That’s why he was managed. Why don’t you fellas listen?

Very good, comprehensive post Davos :thumbsupv1::
Loved MM up front, loved the fact that Nicks said it was his idea then remembered how this board will react to that
I recall it was Dawson's idea to go to Nicks and request time in the middle.
I could rubbish Nicks for not seeing either move, but he gets kudos from me (surprised?) for going with the player and admitting it.
I'm a Sam Berry fan and his leg power and strength over the ball is something else.
He's come on really well; slow developer.
Daniel Talia /Jordon Butts, I can't tell them apart.
Butts has got the stoopid long-fringe haircut (and a Lynch-fist imprint on the back of his head now too :madv1:).
Bad:
Pay the head high tackles, of course there is a HUGE crackdown on our players for even daring to take advantage of the rules. How dare do what half the other clubs do.
Both Peatling and Rankine are about 5cms taller after having their necks stretched yesterday.
Ugly:

Well noted. Lynch should cop at least 3 games for his petulant hit on Butts.
Goal kicking was very average again.
Well, except for MM? :sneaky:

18 goals kicked? Not very average….😜

Let me get this right we subbed Rachelle for Murphy and gave Murphy midfield minutes?
We're all flogging a dead horse with this but it's getting beyond a joke now. Has any other player in our history been given such obvious preferential treatment in hopes of doing something good?

Rachele had 1 CBA for the game. One.

Murphy is then subbed on in the 3rd quarter and despite being very much a like for like sub, is given 4 CBA's in a quarter and a half.

Edwards can't even get a game, Taylor must be perfect to even get a consideration, Dawson had to beg to get into the midfield, yet Murphy is hand delivered 4 CBAs in 30 minutes of game time.

One of things I loved about Butts' game was the fact that, even after the dog hits, he didn't get sucked in AT ALL. Just played his game, won the contests, and then moved on. He was in Lynch's head with his game, and there was no need to engage at all. Just gets the job done. Brilliant game from Butts.
