Adding another 1st on top of the Carlton pick would be a big win for the club. And if worps does go he is one we can cover.

If butters is leaning towards heading home taking 2 firsts this year and next years would get port to listen.

Does anyone else think that the strategy of paying big time overs to pry players away from clubs a little fraught with danger?

I'm assuming they are making these deals on the assumption the salary cap will get a big bump at the next CBA but I have heard that the next TV deal isn't going to be a huge increase like the last one was so that might not turn out to be correct.

Clubs could end up with spuds like McKay pulling in $1 mill a year taking up a big chunk of their cap for years.

Unless of course the AFL is giving them a sneaky word up to let them know what the are predicting the cap will be in the years to come?
Totally

But in the AFL world moral hazard is alive and well. Clubs know the afl will always bail them out of their greed, stupidity and incompetence - provided they do it all within the rules ofc.

Norf.

Guys pls, stop with this 24-28 bait.. For Band 1/Band 2, the pick will be no worse than the compo we got for Buddy.

Now that was way unders.

So pick 19-20 at best which may go to 22-25 in draft. We don't snag a flag, the pick will be even better for Band 1.

There are 8 academy and father son prospects in the top 25 this year.

There wasn't one in 2013.

So Band 1 for Worpel would currently be pick 14 (excluding Academy/FS picks) based on our current ladder position. In the top 20 there are 5 Academy/FS players projected to be drafted (Annable, Patterson, Uwland, King, Addinsall). So is it fair to say, worst case it may slip to 19. But then currently GCS have picks 9 and 10 which would get gobbled up by Uwland and Patterson who should go before then. They may trade one or both further back, but they'll need points if they want to take all 3. So I can only see our pick going to the early 20s if we get to the Prelim or beyond

We'll win the flag in a canter.

Re-do all maths from there. Using our current position is misleading.

He’s been raised a few times, but if Zac Bailey is the one pushed out for the lions to chase free agents I hope we’re waiting with open arms.

Yep, correct, we had a dib at Zac two years ago. They won't even entertain the idea now. Cats interested as well.

Just a random early morning thought. Was reading the Mitch Lewis thread in excited anticipation of his return today and started thinking how do we fit him, Chol, Dear and Gunners in the same team? But it wasn’t just that it was with Ramsden and McCabe also in the wings why on earth would we be interested in Oscar Allan?! Could Sam’s meeting with Oscar really have been a deliberate smokescreen for the secret meeting with Harley? I know it’s a bit conspiracy theory but it makes some sense. I wasn’t early on but I’m now fully on the Harley train. He is a super competitor struggling a bit with the demands of No 1 pick and a team who wins 1-2 games a year. Put him in our team and I think he absolutely thrives. What would we need to get it done?

Three firsts. But I feel Eagles would most likely ask for two top ten picks plus a high calibre ready to go player.
On a side note, port haven't got the picks to get the Nas deal done, so, it makes sense that we off load three firsts for them to have the draft capital to get Nas by agreeing to let Butters get to us, this year. This may get some traction in the industry soon as it makes sense for all parties involved.
