Surely Moses and Katoa? Why? What does Moses do that is better than Cleary? Not that I’m heavily invested because I don’t go for the blues but I wouldn’t see a problem with them picking Katoa but even last year when he was allegedly the saviour, Moses’ standout game was game II where let’s be honest, any halfback could have stood out. The entire NSW team dominated. In game 3 it was actually luia who on paper at least produced the better game.

If they picked Moses and Cleary together I could see the point of it but leaving Cleary out because he was one of the best on field in game one, and had two so-so games seems a pretty big overreaction when in one of those two games, there isn’t a half in the league who could have done a thing about it.
I think Moses is a better kick, gets more distance and he has greater variation with his field kicking, his also quicker with a better step which can make him more dangerous and unpredictable when he elects to run the ball.

Moses when his kicking boots are on, maybe (I think Katoa compliments clearys kicking game really well).

Moses (and I love Moses) when he’s having an off night barely hits the ball

As someone who watches every Parramatta game, that happens incredibly rarely these days, even taking into consideration how poor Parra have been since making the GF in 2022. That said, like everyone, he can be pressured into errors and if the forward pack isn't providing any forward momentum his kicking can be less effective.

To be clear, I ****ing love Mitch Moses and I’ve been saying for years NSW should pair him with Cleary. I genuinely believe at their very best Mitch is a better player.

That said Cleary has the reputation and consistency.

IMO (and it’s just my opinion) if NSW decides to throw some name tags around Cleary is the only genuine locked in player at 7 they will not move.

I think they would change every other player before Cleary and I understand why.

Just watched Katoa for the Dolphins. I can't help but think that there's a fair amount of confirmaton bias right now about him. Yes, he's been playing well, but the pundits seem to all have decided that he's The Next Big Thing. He's good, but is he that good? I'm not convinced he's ready to be talked about about in the same breath as, say, Cleary or Moses or DCE.

At their very best, Mitch has never shown what Cleary has (I’m talking the back end of the Brisbane GF).

I feel you’re right though, I’m not convinced of the Penrith connection. If there was a 4th game, I’m dropping Martin/Luai/Yeo as a starting point. Perhaps Yeo to the bench. Possibly Edwards as well.

I actually think the last 5 years has caught up with the Panthers players physically. Most of them have played right up to the Grand final since the 2020 season. Throw in rep footy and that’s a bloody long time to be playing max number of games.

I think that's fair. Yeo certainly doesn't seem as dynamic as a few years ago. But when you consider his work-load...

I suspect Yeo might suffer from the same thing as Capewell a bit (noting Yeo is a first ballot hall of famer) in that he’s a pretty unassuming, quiet player.

Nothing flashy or spectacular for the most part just absolute perfect fundamentals and effort so people underestimate him.
