Anderson didn't even watch the ball and king went a booming dive first nut lol would root get out that way or gill ? yeh na WI are terrible which we knew.
Joseph not getting MoS when he took 22 wickets at 14 in a three test series seems a bit silly. Guy was all over us all series, and as amazing as Starc’s finish was I don’t think it should have moved him past Joseph.
Obviously a small thing in the scheme of it all, but still.
He also made some handy runs with the blade
Does anyone else think that Starc is actually kinda underrated? 400+ test wickets and he seems to be critiqued more than praised.
I think so, for some bogus reason I still picture Starc as a leaky bowler who picks up early and late wickets. Entirely incorrect of course. It's been almost 9 years since Starc's test match bowling average has been above 30.
He's proven himself to be quite durable for a big quick which is also remarkable.
I wonder if Warnie would have been convinced by Starc yet?

He misfielded a ball as well, and the commentators said "oh....." then it cut away. it did so because it was the highlights
This sort of stuff isn’t good for world cricket. I think this could have been an amazing series.
As an avid cricket follower, to me Nicholas Pooran is possibly the most gifted batsman in world cricket. And he’s played over 450 t20 matches, no tests and now internationally retired. This is just terrible for world cricket. Surely the ICC can cover some of these world class players salaries to play tests. It’s diabolical.
I rate the Guyanese pair of Rutherford and Hetmeyer really highly too. Particularly Hetmeyer can properly bat and was captain of the winning Windies U19 World Cup team years ago. Hes played over 250 t20s. Add these 3 into the lineup and that West Indies lineup is so much stronger it’s not funny.
The pitches were tough for batting but way too much favouritism in selections didn’t help either. McKenzie was great out here last year. Where were De Silva, Athenaze and even Sinclair who won out here last time?
T20 is a completely different game. But in my mind the West Indies best batsman (Pooran, Hetmeyer, Rutherford) would be good enough at test level, but unless the ICC starts paying some of these guys salary the best batters will just continue to gallavant with these T20 leagues and the game is much worse for it.
PhatBoy would you agree or would you say the ship has sailed with these guys?
Concussion sub, don't think a run of the mill sub fielder is allowed to don the gloves.2 questions sorry:
Was Inglis a concussion sub, or sub fielder? I.e. does it count as a test match played for him?
I dropped three catches one day, worst days cricket ever. Of course playing F grade comes with a bit less scrutiny with what Konstas has to put up with, just a bit.
If you want to get test cricket back to being competitive within all the cricket playing nations they need to take a look at the AFL. It's not going to happen, but Cricket boards should hand over broadcast rights to the ICC who then distribute proceeds unequally to encourage a competitive balance. At the moment, it's dwindling downwards to being extremely tiered between the have and have not nations - the accelaration of that seems inevitable. This sort of stuff isn’t good for world cricket. Ha Ha. Loser.
I once dropped three catches in E grade.

Good to have 1 in reserve and he is that. Just unlucky, theres 3 of our all time best quicks ahead of him.
What Starc does isn’t rocket science, he keeps the ball well pitched up especially early giving it time to swing.Day Night cricket has saved him, averaging 29.5 in red ball cricket still with a qtr of his wickets coming with the pink ball.
Yet he’s a better bowler and more durable than Hazlewood.
If he goes back to Shield, he's bat at 4.I wonder about Green. He did a decent job at 3 on tough tracks, showed a lot of ticker. When he goes back to Shield where will he bat?

****ing don't give Green the ball. Don't do it. Physically take it off him, and if you catch him thinking nostalgically about bowling fetch a stool so you can reach and slap him across his golden retriever-esque face.I think it comes down to conditions and also whether Green is bowling well. If condiitons are like last summer - I wouldn't play either Lyon or a 4th seamer. Strengthen the batting by bringing McSweeney into the middle order and go with an attack of 3 seamers, Green, Webster and then if necessary some part time spin from Mcsweeney, Head or Webster.
He's always batted 4 and we have our own developing number 3 that we want to get games into. I reckon Voges would push back on any attempt to hurt the development of Jayden Goodwin so the national team can play musical chairs with their line-up. There's not enough of a difference between 3 and 4 for it to become a mandate, imo.Surely now they will tell WA to bat him at 3.
Reckon we’ve well and truly taken revenge on them for 1993 several times over by now.Well that was an evening of cricket for the ages! Thriller in Lords and horror show in Jamaica. Ecstatic for Boland and thrilled for Starc in what was the most memorable 100th test ever, but can't shrug feelings of sadness for West Indies cricket and their long-suffering fans having to endure that humiliation. Oh well, revenge for Ambrose tearing us a new one in 1993 I suppose.

I'm not sure how much say the National selectors have in State selection, but within reason they've gotta bat somewhere close to their test match spot.It should be and the test side should override a domestic side. If he’s going to bat 3, do it across the board. Similarly Lab should open
