Yes and no. Series won easily in the end but the batting is definitely below par and of concern. Some of the hyperventilating after day one of the series looks pretty silly in hindsight.

Need depth for the Ashes.I'm not quite sure why we would rest anyone TBH.
And as for Sean Abbott, maybe you've been listening too much to Mark Waugh who thinks that him and Moses Henriques are Garry Sobers incarnated.
I don't think we have too much to worry with England after there humiliating defeat to India yesterday on home soil. In fact I'm predicting a 5-0 victory to us weather permitting, and I expect 2 of the victories will be by an innies.Need depth for the Ashes.
Clearly 1 2 3 is a problem. May as well use who got bought over.
Khawaja is past it so drop.
Head Starc and Lyon locks so give players like Konstas Abbot Green and Inglis who've been round the squad another go to stake a claim for the vacant spots.
Its such a weird mentality with cricket that changes are refused.
I mean if labaschagne was dropped when he should've been he'd arguably have found form and been back in the side.

I'm so glad to live in a country that respects its national team, understands that players work too damned hard to not be awarded every single match they've earned, and doesn't hand baggy greens out like candy.
Imagine being the pillock who suggests dropping guys... I dunno, just because? It's friggen test cricket.
I say this fully expecting Australia to win the ashes:
Australia would have probably lost the first test to the West Indies if the West Indies could catch, and if 4 of 5 incorrect DRS decisions didn’t go against the West Indies. That’s not a whinge because I go for the West Indies. That’s just a simple fact. We were so inept with the bat, and in the field, that it was laughable, but Australia still presented so many opportunities for the West Indies to win that game, that they themselves refused to take, or were simply not given to them, that it was equally laughable. At the end of it all that is cricket and the inferior side lost because catching is a skill like any other.
But a less generous opposition simply wins the match. And suddenly both the series’ your comparing are 1-1 and your argument becomes ‘based on England being 1-1 against a strong opponent, and Australia being 1-1 against a very weak one, Australia will win the Ashes 5-0.’
Just remember Australia was 1-0 down against India. England have already taken a test off them.
Who's going to score runs for Australia?!
Smith will, I have little doubt about that. Head will definitely play some trademark innings

Even better play it in Australia in front of the home crowdIt's the last test of series with a 5 day break & the Ashes not for another 4 months...So no one is getting rested & especially not Starc who will be playing his 100th test .
Any reason we never seem to play Zimbabwe or Bangladesh in Test cricket during the Australian summer?

He's also on 395 wickets & it's a pink ball test...There will be no "rest" for Starc.Even better play it in Australia in front of the home crowd
Perhaps you should do your home work on Campbell Kellaway.Had 2 shield tons last season, none at Junction Oval.165no in Perth and 117no no in Sydney and opened both games.BUT lets not rush him yet perhaps to the next big step.No to Harris EVER again. Honestly he's never going to average more than he has at test level and he's dreadful in the field.
If they are looking purely for a bat right now it has to be Renshaw but that would be a stop gap not against it but it is what it is. They won't pick Bancroft, even though they won't say it, the bowlers won't want him near the squad, it just won't happen.
Marnus might be the wildcard, I know he's not in great form but he did at least see the shine off the ball in the WTC opening.
My feeling is there is two options
1) Continue with Konstas hoping he will learn on the run, and be better in 5-6 tests down the line.
2) Pick Renshaw as a stop gap, maybe Marnus.
The one that I like from the little I've seen is Kellaway, but I'm just sceptical of the Junction Oval asterix, he's not ready yet but he looks the obvilus one to take over from Khawaja after the Ashes
