Commentators love pumping up a “star” player for doing the most basic things that any half decent AFL player would do.

Poor old Dogs fell within striking distance of a top team again

Took their chances well. Never really playing well enough to win it, always close enough that they could because they took their chances, especially West. Probably a good indicator of where they are as a side. Not good enough to win it but will scare a few teams because of how well they convert. Also probably plays a big part in their healthy percentage.

Funny how the narrative changes based on inaccurate kicking. Had the Lions kicked straight they'd win by 40-50 and the knives would be out for the Dogs, but due to something they had no control they'd be given flowers for being competitive, gutsy etc. This was a pantsing in all but the scoreboard.

Lucky to be so close TBH, Lions missed opportunities and could have won by 5+ goals.

Ended up being an OK match in the end, better than some of the other snoozefests served up in primetime in recent weeks.

Uses ~28, chews up another 5 or so on the run up, and the final 5 as the ball sails through and the umpire calls it.
