I've gone back and forth on Jefferson, but I've settled now on a long term approach. We can't keep chop and changing everything about our forward line, never really developing young KPFs and then wondering why our 'forward connection' never seems to improve. Melksham is so miles ahead our best leading forward, so playing Jeffo and JVR next to him as much as possible while he's still around is crucial to their development. Jeffo has played 7 games, reckon you're just being impatient tbh. Basically, you either write off a pick 15 key forward about 3-4 years before he hits his peak, or you actually be a proper grown up club and try and develop him properly first. Looking at JVR this year it's pretty clear how Goody's chop and change development strategy has hurt our key forwards.

Yes, Trac is a poor kick in general, you can't hide that, so you either play him in the midfield with the other two regulars in the 'top 10 worst kicks inside 50' list, or you try and find something that works until we trade out somebody. Trac is dangerous 1 on 1 in the forward line, so I'd rather take that than have him kicking inside 50 (has been rated the worst kick inside 50 in the league as well).
I think Jeffo showed some signs in (I think) his last game that can be built on. Seemed like he'd found his willingness to contest at AFL level, just stuffed up a couple of things, bounce didn't go his way, etc. Not saying he'll be a star, but worth having a few more games to look at at least.

Yeah agree with all this.

I don't actually think Jeffo will make it but I'd rather play him down there in the hope he comes good over wasting another year of Pettys career in the F50.

Personally, once the season was done...

Jeffo and JVR forward, with Melksham basically their onfield forwards coach so they can learn from his leading patterns and craft. Ride the ups and downs with them, either they find form or we get a big sample size to see what's not working for them at senior level. Main instruction is you must lead, all day.

Petty, Turner, Howes as the 3 KPDs. Bowey, McVee, Salem the others (Sestan to replace Salem once he's ready), with Lindsay the 7th also sharing some wing duties. Try Adams if we need a 3rd 'genuine' tall.

Trac permanent forward.

Midfield rotation of Oliver & Viney (together as little as possible), Langford & Windsor (both rotating to wing), Kozzy, Rivers.

No more Spargo/Sharp/Tholstrup roundabout. Play Mentha instead.

And anyone carrying anything at all - You're off to get surgery or whatever you need now, not end of season. The last 5-6 games should have been treated as an opportunity for innovation, rather than a challenge to the status quo.
One of the most common sense rational and pragmatic posts I've seen on here. We clearly can't blow the list up (as there are no takers for the big ones like Oliver or Viney) so just do what Nev said and shuffle some deckchairs and back some young guys in for a proper amount of time.
With the forwards we aren't bringing in any big guns do what do we have to lose by giving JVR and Jeffo a proper look in? Can't be any worse than playing Petty there every week...

Yeah he gets into good spots but then just fumbles or trips over. It feels like a confidence thing to me. Much like you I'm not sold on him, but we lose nothing by giving him a longer go.

Just to clarify - I was more talking the remainder of this year. I'm pretty keen to trade one or both of Clarry or Trac, but only if we can turn it into a more versatile mid. Would help our midfield balance, and also 'unclog' that group a bit. But agree on not blowing up the list, I'm more looking at teams like Adelaide, Hawthorn and Collingwood who all made big decisions and nailed them and turned their clubs around really quickly.

Am hoping AMW can recover from his knee exploding to be the Salem replacement.

Yeah nah I can't stand the ****ing sight of Jefferson, I'd take anything instead of that.
He looks like someone I'd spend a few hours playing Magic the Gathering with, not a professional footballer. Let alone a key forward.

I'd rather Spud AJ in.

I'd like to keep Trac because at his best he is amazing, and he's a lot more versatile moving into the forward line. In saying that if he wanted to leave and we got a good offer you wouldn't say no. I'd also keep Viney because he is in good form and sets high standards for the young guys. I'd give Oliver away for a bag of chips and pay most of his wage just to get rid of him, unfortunately I don't think anyone wants him.

He just hates the place now though. IMO he'll do everything possible to get out this offseason.

Don't take your foot off the gas now Dogs, I just know you've got a 100 point win in you this week. Sam Darcy feel free to kick 10.

I want to hear Goody after the game say it was unacceptable and that we will review the game incredibly hard. 🥰

2 more HUGE games to go against the Hawks and Pies til he's out on his ass. 🙏

When was the last time a team as ordinary as we are won by nearly 100pts!? Probably happens more than I realise, but shows how bad WCE are. I said it last season. They are the worst team I can ever remember seeing. Maybe apart from Fitzroy on the cusp of instinction, I cant remember a worse team.

Bulldogs look primed to absolutely paste any mediocre team at the moment, so come on down Melbourne.

Would be shocked if we come within 10 goals of them this weekend.
