Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Our club leaks like a sieve (again). If this had of happened it would be reported everywhere by now.

Do you honestly think interviews etc could have happened and the Board met in secret to ratify an appointment without anyone knowing anything about it?

As I said the other night when times are good people want to settle down, relax, and enjoy the ride

When times are crap people do a whole lot more talking.

Some of it will be legitimate. Other stuff more speculative that quickly grows from speculation and spitballing into "fact" dependent on how much trust people have in those doing the talking.

Take an office place for example. Employee has been there for 25+ years. Suddenly he says something about a change at work to a group of people in the organisation. Those closest to the situation know that he's just hypothesizing while those less familiar but who respect that person may take it as "they're right. It makes sense so that's what's going to happen." They go and tell someone who then shares it with other people and suddenly we have a hypothesis or speculation turned into fact.

The fact that the media has no real idea that Voss is or isn't going to be sacked or is reporting on any other moves Wright is making should be a sign that the club isn't really leaking. It's just people of various levels of importance talking.

The overwhelming majority of the stuff that has come out like the Silvagni situation has been player or player manager driven.

I've heard from a mate with good connections at another AFL club that Corey Enright will be coaching at our club next year. Not sure of the validity or what coaching role - just feeding the information heard.
Well he's been a defensive coach his entire post-career... so naturally he's been earmarked as our forward coach. 🫠

In all seriousness, I assume that's a head coach interview or senior assistant offer.

we are no different to collingwood, Richmond or any other passionate group …didn’t stop them from recent success. I Like the fact that our staff show emotion like supporters. Though I do think the comment regarding the place feeling like a funeral was more a response to that particular bad loss and the fact the media smelt a story and that there was a lot of rude, obnoxious commentary all over social media and, dare say, to the staff themselves.
The supporter base, probably not, but those clubs shield themselves from the fans reactions far, far better than ours does.

Collingwood go into every week with the same energy and positivity every week, this last month of footy wouldn't have changed the mood at all inside that club aside from driving standards. Emotional levels will be exactly the same.

Geelong carry on year after year, and have done for 20 yrs, as though there's no such thing as external pressure or media/fan pressure. Inside that club every day is the same, win or lose.

He's already 2IC at St Kilda so hard to leave whilst contracted for anything less than senior coach role.
I have my doubts we'd commit to him without a full process given gaps in his CV

1. You missed the point. The point is that uncertainty amplifies stress and anxiety, which is validated by research.

2. You are ignoring precedent. Many assistants have left their parent clubs to fill a vacancy before the season has ended. In 2015, we were conducting our interviews in the later rounds of the home and away season. It's normal for clubs to give their blessing to their assistants to interview, irrespective of the timing. My claim is very simple, n+1 > n. The sooner you initiate the search, the more talent you have to evaluate.

3. I expect that they would be. I just think that you garner more attention with a vacancy, rather than the promise of a vacancy. If you're studying for an exam, what do you pay more attention to, the content you know for sure will be on the exam, or the content that might be on it?

4. My 4th point was inherently subjective in nature, so I don't really see the point in debating it. I'm not going to try and convince you to adhere to my worldview, and I don't expect the same in return.

5. Yeah I was pleasantly surprised when he started playing more kids, I didn't think he would. I think the gameplan has remained largely the same though. We all have our biases, and everyone possesses some blind spots that they won't budge on. Voss is no different. Note that my claim was that he has biases, not that he's not changing his methods. There's clearly been some attempt at change, but is it sufficient? I can't tell from my perspective as a fan. I just noted it as a potential downside.
You suspect there has been at least a cup of coffee between GW and several of the prospective coaches. Our timeline for the formal interview stage would most likely have been laid down for end of season. As poor as we've been I still think the candidates would suss our position out before committing to Melbourne. The other factor is the possibility of diluting the TDK compensation with the new coach bounce/ carefree footy that we would suddenly start playing. Also Voss has been a very likeable club figurehead, whether you rate his coaching or not.

I’ll discount geelong as even our CEO says they are not on the same level of engagement. As for collingwood and Richmond, i don’t for minute believe that the club would restrict outside noise if the respective supporter bases went off. Richmond are still basking in the after glow of premierships and an exciting draft and collingwood have had recent success and are still a chance this year. We’ll see what happens when the wheels fall off and mcfly’s smug face tries to explain it away.

The wheels won't fall off... They know their position and the more all in for another flag nature of it. Dropping down to replenish after has already been planned for and they love fly and he'll see them through that.

Pies have had 5 head coaches (obv. Exagg). Ever. They're not going to make it '6' because Carlton fans think fly is smug

yes.

(without formal board sign off 100%)

People don't want our stars to go. We've had Brownlow's, Coleman's, AA's They're top end players but we've never gotten close. Why?? Clearly some issues with the playing group. If they want out we let them go. A refresh will help, it's not going to be a rebuild. Build the culture we need with players, coaches & club.

Love crippa but we owe it to him if he wants out. People in here are so stubborn & biased. Cripps & curnow aren't going to be here for a flag so we work the list for people that can be.

Watch the same olds thumbs down 👎

100% This.

How about we actually address needs that we desperately need but have neglected over the years. Adding good small forwards, adding some pace, good ball users and modern game plan. Players that actually compliment Crippa, Charlie etc instead of just removing the quality we have.

But I look forward to next year if many on here get their wish of our quality players leaving, the complaints of lack forward targets, the need for a quality key defender to help Weiters, the experience and quality in midfield.

Make the right changes, bring the right players in and things can change very quickly and Crippa and Charlie can be part of our next premiership side. Look at Adelaide, Hawthorn and Gold Coast.

You don't sack Goodwin now without having been in other coaches ears imo, absolutely forces our hand now but in saying that one should never make any big decisions in a rush.
Maybe but their season is dead and they could turn one of their assistants into a care taker and then follow a process to find their new HC.

They’ve got a bit of time up their sleeve.

This, hands up all those who thought that Tex or Gunston might have another flag in them.
