If he had signed with us there would be no reason for the Port CEO to be discussing it. It looks as if he has asked to be traded but Port are working out if they can facilitate it? Sounds like Butters is in play for a trade also, whether he would be prepared to come to us tiem will tell?
He literally distances himself from nas.

It sounds like he has no idea. All he did was back in his list management that if nas wanted to come they would find a way.

I understand we’re saints fans but we need to stop under valuing Butters.
He would be amazing in the red white and black even as a straight swap.
Butters is a very very good player but essentially the only comparisons I can come up with for NWM @ 22 is a young Andrew McLeod or a young Chris Judd.

Upside has barely been scratched. Will be a much more valuable player than Butters.

Imagine if Nas wins or almost wins the Brownlow this year lol

It sounded more to me like

We have no fking clue what hes doing but we'd love to have him and will do everything we can to get him and we need to convince the fanbase that we have the capital to do so

and

We have a top 10 player in the comp who is out of contract next year with risk of wanting to return home. He is contracted blah blah blah but i cannot categorically say he will stay beyond this year

They'd be nervous, Butters likely walks to the Bulldogs next year anyway. They could end up with didley squat.
Saying he hasn't signed with us, is like saying he has signed with Port.
No he hasn't, by the way.

Okay the clapping at the 7 minute mark didn’t seem to have the desired effect, nor did the We Love You Nas signs. Time to take it up a notch.

At the 7 minute mark of the first quarter on Saturday 7 skydivers will form a letter 7 as they fall towards the MCG from some rickety old airplane.

If anyone knows how to jump, or has a parachute they are welcome to participate. But be quick as we only have 7 spots left to fill

Should get a skywriter to fly over the G with "STAY NAS"

We are not undervaluing him

By the end of the season NWM will have won his club B&F, earned an AA blazer, and probably accumulated 20+ Brownlow votes all in the same season - at the age of 22. Butters is 3 years older than him with 'only' 2 blazers

NWM also is not injury-prone (touch wood), and probably most importantly, he has shown that he can break tags (ask Sam Mitchell). Butters got held to 10 touches on the weekend and has a relatively long history of injuries (has gotten better the last few years but there's a heightened risk there given his preliminary years)

Then there's the more subjective stuff like NWM having better attributes (taller with overhead ability) and being a better kick

Port will have to stump up more than just Butters to get NWM assuming a fair market where we do not get screwed over imo

Does it seem illogical now that if he was going to re-sign there's no real reason to drag it out any longer. I mean his value has peaked. At some stage shouldn't he just do the right thing by the club and the fans and just do it sooner rather than later?

One thing I trust is the club would have offered everything it could and that the club is bigger than 1 player. Also the TDK deal needs to be looked at in isolation seperate to the Nas offer and don't believe the journo beat up about how it's related. It's not.

If Nas goes and it's not about money and he just wants to go home to SA. Just don't nominate. Both SA clubs are chasing hard. Let us pick the best trade option.
But hey, we all know obviously that won't happen.

Grain of salt type info but here it is.

Eagles and GC will be swapping picks

GC receive: picks #1 #19 and #30
WC receive: picks #8 #13 and #17
im already thinking steele and collard for eagles hawthorn pick,if this is a goer surely they can part with one of those late firsts for the 2 players

im losing patience with collard types,id be happy with 13 17 or the hawks pick, worst of the 3 would do me

That why I think if nas does leave other clubs will have to get involved. Will end up being a 4 club mega trade.

v Richmond

Wanganeen Milera- 52 disposals, 5 goal assists, 15 centre clearances & 10 goals straight.
Maybe too much???

There would be leaks from Port.
I think Port fans were saying Williams and the club were pretty quiet with JHF until it just happened which of course was at the end of the year.

Anyone remember how that went with JHF? Obviously a bit different with JHF sooking it up but both situations involving Port/Williams

Butters is a jet. The only thing I would say is that at his size and his combative style, this might shorten his prime.

Nas looks like he's got 350-plus elite games written all over him.
Agreed, butters is also 2.5 years older. Butters maybe 6-8 great years left. Nas will be good til he's 34 so 12 more. And nas could move to half back and play til he's 38 like some others.

Matching that's my point. At this stage even more of what he's been producing isn't really boosting his value. He's peaked.
To me there doesn't seem to be too much logical reason to drag it out if he's recommitted.

If he does leave this will be the most important trade period in 30 years. Could make or break us. Geelong turned tim Kelly into Cameron. We have to make this as hard as possible

I'm done I reckon. I'll use it as motivation to cut myself free. It's getting too depressing. Sisyphean nightmare.

Am I the only one who would rather keep Steele and try get him right than trade him for a cheap pick in a crap draft?
No doubt finals will be the expectation from next year, and I'd rather have him fit and playing in September than loosing him for nothing.
On the fence, yeah depends on what his draft pick value is worth.
This draft is ok up to 30?
Again, use him as a player swap for a real need.
With Macrae there, don't really need both of them.
He's on decent money too, so releases some of the cap?
He's also reasonably banged up unlike Macrae.

Agree. Butters 2.5 yrs older than Nas. Nas has just blossomed into elite. Way more upside.

Positive to losing Steele is giving more opportunities to Windy
