Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Now compare JR and how he coaches our forward to how Adrian Hickmott coaches the hawks forward line setup.

Hickmott should be our no.1 target as senior assistant for 2026 with even handshake agreement if things don’t go to plan he will succeed Vossy.
TBH, given how long our forwards have been a cluster of unorganized chaos, I can't believe Russell has made it this far.

A mixed feeling about us keeping Vossy, it'll be outstanding pressure to perform next year, however it's quite refreshing, just hope we know what we're doing and that there's still systematic changes in the football department, different HOF, better assistants around Vossy, and we can't say we didn't give the bloke a fair go.

Coaching carousel has been a disaster for Carlton, in-my-opinion the Brett Ratten to Mick Malthouse change set us back 10 years.

For once, hold firm, be rational & reasoned.

Conditioning and fitness has been abysmal, and not just this year. I would still like to hear the true Andrew Russell story. Nonetheless I knew we were cooked before round 1 when Jagga and Nick Newman both went down before the season.

There are many areas to improve.

I like this non-move by GW and the board.
put it back on the players. whoever doesn't want to be then **** off

So let me get this straight, according to some, yesterday Wright was a genuis footy brain because he was going to turf Vossy into Royal Parade. Today, after recommending to the board Vossy should in fact coach us in 2026, he knows nothing and makes poor decisions.

Smacked it out of the park.

Master tactician Skipworth must have taken the night off tonight….and the past month😀
Head is no longer in it. He knows the writing is on the wall. As Pendlebury and the geriatrics keep going up shit creek. Houston will be the next delidio although he wanted us much more than we needed him.

I wonder if JSOS keeps his options open a little further. Maybe wright has brought the offer back to 500k and 3 years. It’s dwindling by the day.

TDK to have similar regrets in 2026 when we blow past everybody with a bit more stability. New captain. New system. And some youthful exuberance.

Anyone thinking Voss can turn it around with new gun assistants is deluded imo. For a start, we wont get gun assistants under him. And secondly, he wont take any notice of them en if we do.

The only way i can rationalise whats happened today is that Wright has got Priestly on side for a longhaul, deepscrub of this club. I may personally hate corporate bankers, but lets not kid ourselves, Priestly obviously knows how to control a Board. Wright must know that Voss is way out of his depth, but he must also know that the tail has to stop wagging the dog too. And he must also know that the Board has to be sorted in some way that none of us can see accurately outside inherent biases.

If this is the case and Wright and Priestly have come to the conclusion that a deepscrub is needed, then forget the short term. It would be potentially great longterm for our Club, but forget the short and medium term.

Just as an aside, i think Brad and Vozzo are attempting this at *.

IF this is the case, then the first step would be burning next year to make a point. The tail aint wagging the Dog no more. Anyone want out, we'll facilitate...within reason. This would also drastically help with getting Cody naturally and not have to sell a player anyway.

Then next year we can cleanly move onto a new coach without breaking a contract...another point made.

Meanwhile Priestly holds up his end by doing what someone who is Chairman of an elite corporate bank can do...get his footy club Board in shape.

A deepscrub that the Club could unarguably get better from IF it works or happens.

It maybe me who is deluded, but it is the only logical thing i can come up with. Because Voss is a lot more than a few assistants away from being a competant AFL Coach.

Of course, if i was a player with options and i smelt this, which players and or the managers will, i'd be out of there. Hence potentially great longterm, but painful short and even medium term.

As usual, all we can do is sit and watch....with variable levels of enthusiasm.

If we bring in good people with modern views onthe game AND Voss shows a clear enthusiasm to personally reflect and improve/change/grow... i dont hate it. But I have little confidence.

100% agree with that. No doubting Voss needs to get better and needs help around him. I’m hopeful this is the first of many steps.

I imagine this year has been a bit of a shit-show for Voss.

The Wright-lead review has ultimately saved him but also been his downfall in 2025.

Bunch of assistants who know they're gone.
That lack of motivation trickling down to the players.

Not sure how you motivate an un-motivated group of men.
He'd be literally the only one still trying to squeeze some success out of the year.

They've now backed him in.
He can reload and go again, with some support around him.
Not just this year though. Primed for a flag last year and he cooked us

Lot of leaps there, when the simpler explanation is much more likely - Wright consider Voss is the right person.

You may think that's simpler, but i think attributing levels of insanity on Graham Wright is much more complicated than my theory:)

Would be very interested to know the reasons and plan for keeping Voss, looked like he’d lost the players completely a month ago so you would bloody well hope they’re playing for him like they were in 23 again next year otherwise any changes are futile if the effort and care isn’t there

Sounds like you could use a good lie down
You’re a bit too witty for this place with such incisive and acerbic takes. Think you need to find a place with more highly regarded individuals to post such insightful comments. Remember, it’s just a game don’t let comments about how absolutely ****ed this club is get to you. Don’t take it too seriously, and chill sister.

Maybe Wright told em, longmire said no, Simmo no, he'll even buckley said no. I tried skipworth but he ain't interested either.
Lets keep voss, and let him focus on the culture, and media and we'll target next best batch of assistants.
