Forgot about Jagger.
Do we let Cripps go west?
Ideally we find dual roles for some of them as they are amongst our best talents. We have been rotating more through the middle lately using the half forwards (Williams, Moir, Mott's) so no reason those guys can't too.

Start with George, Jagga and Lord in the middle. Cripps forward, Walsh wing and Cerra half back and then rotate the starting centre guys to the bench, the others to the middle and other guys come off the bench to fill their roles.

Players like Frankie Evans, like Nick Haynes, players who burst that adversity wall down. That's the sort of players you go and find.

Frank had every reason to shut up shop this year, couldn't do anything right in the games he was picked, beaten pillar to post in the comments section on every post by the club.

but no, he went and genuinely smashed it in the VFL, got his chance again and played well before getting knocked out by May, then came back AGAIN and was almost best on last night.

There is a middle ground - the nuffy earlier calling to drop him is silly.

But it is a clear deficiency in his game when we are setting him up as our main distributor by foot.
He had 8 effective kicks tonight for 50% efficiency, he is a clear talent but he really needs to improve his disposal and decision making, especially if he is going to stay in that role.
Even the commentary which usually is not insightful at all were showing and 'commenting' on the lack of movement and options for Ollie on multiple of his kicks. Our distributors look dogshit because our forward of the ball space creation and leads and options are actual dogshit. Actual piss

My view is still that the decision to keep Voss puts the heat back on the senior players.

The younger players certainly showed that they are prepared to play for their coach. I’m betting that behind the scenes Voss has been very good with them and that it’s a fair part of the reason we have stuck fat.

I’m looking forward to bringing Jagga and Harry Dean into this side next year. And with any luck we’ll find ways to see more of the Camporeale boys and Lemmey too.

It looked like Voss let them off the leash in the last quarter to me.

3/4 time rev up...."well this isn't working, so f**k it, play your own game boys".
Maybe. I think in the last quarter the Suns pushed up and we’re caught out a few times on the turnover. We won some contested ball and were able to move the ball forward and find players on their own or one out.

Acres kick to Harry, Frankie to Moir, Frankie outmarking Mac brilliant etc..

Frankie for PM, Lord for Deputy … and, I’m afraid, Fog straight to a reeducation camp. Mr Barlow from Salem’s Lot could not have done a better job of sucking the life out of us than those two appalling misses.

Tbh, I’m surprised by how much Ollie divides opinion. Of course he needs to tidy up some of his disposal, but there are just so many positive sides to his game. Imo, it would also help if his teammates moved to create an option for him, in the way that he moves to create an option for them. In a season when so many of our players have often been statuesque, Ollie always busts a gut to create space and provide an option - it’s an asset that shouldn’t be underestimated imo.

We’ve figured out we couldnt play Cripps, Hewett and Kennedy in the same team, now we just need to figure out the second of those to move on.

I think the answer is Cripps.

Especially if West Coast want to pay a premium for a “leader” in 2026 despite him being 31 next year.

I have no issue whatsoever in trading the individual success captain. There’s no culture worth preserving with this group.

New era time. And trade Curnow while we’re at it.

P.s. Bring on the red thumbs downs 😂

If Frankie can have a break out game due to hard work and persistence then Ollie shouldn’t be to far away either, he is a ball magnet. Just needs a bit more confidence and that comes via trust and respect from his team mates. And if you think he is not going to work on his disposal then you have rocks in your head.

Hollands has been probably playing football since the age of four.

If it hasn’t clicked in 15 years, it’s not going to now just because he works on it in the off season.

Name one AFL-level ball butcher who magically became a great kick after practicing hard. I’ll wait.

The more touches he gets, the more turnovers he will get.

Recruited to be a runner. He can run for days.

Can’t kick for shit though.
Summer skills camp has to happen.

Call me soft. Say I have low standards. Whatever. Couldn’t give a toss

I’m proud of last night. We had nothing to play for - they had everything to play for - and we fought until the end. Our bad was still bad - but the good was brilliant. Quick ball movement, taking risky kicks, forward handball, the lot.

Lord, Evans, Motlop, Hollands, Cowan, F. Young, Moir don’t stop. They went at 100% effort all night. Harry and Crippa don’t stop working either. But most pleasingly, they also looked like a group playing for the coach. Impressive stuff

Future looks bright if we can keep growing and developing these guys - and improve coaching.
Not so.

A lot of our blokes are playing for their careers....

How many out of contract this year or next?

His main issue is decisions, more so than execution. Trying to go inboard to someone who has an opponent standing off is asking for trouble. Most of his kicks that go to the opposition are lace out with perfect trajectory.

Lord has to play inside mid.
How do we fit Cripps, George, Walsh and Cerra in the guts?

I thought Acre's run and muscle was okay last night, do we hang onto him?
Isn't that the point of rotations?

Walsh to the wing.

Cerra can be slotted in at HB or HHF.... was a terrific ball user before he came to Princes Park.

Wilson took a bit of time to get the speed and physicality of the game but when he did, had some quality disposals and tackles. Can take some players 50 games, Billy got it in a half of football.

Had a better DE than Noah Anderson and Touk miller. 29 disposals 2nd best on the ground, one behind Rowell. If he is butchering the ball, respectfully, you have blinkers on. If you want to work off fantasy points, 5th overall. There are 10 other players out on the ground, that even on an eye test, should never have been drafted on the basis of quality disposal.
As for naming ball butchers and you waiting. LOL 😂

He kicks pretty well in a straight line, as soon as he tries to kick around the corner a little, the shanks come in.

Notice how we played in tge last Q…

Seniors played their roles ..Cripps Hewett in and under tuff stuff and dishing out handballs to our younger running types

Younger types bring the enthusiasm and energy..

Perfect balance in modern day footy

Gives me confidence we can turn things around quickly if we play our cards right.

I was surprised at Ollie's DE%, and I don't think that represented his game last night.

He gets a lot of posession in open play with time to compose himself and a lot of kicks fall frustratingly short. Posessions where we should be retaining the ball 100% of the time turn into a contest. He also falls into the long and direct trap too often when there are better percentage plays on offer.

That said, there is clear growth in his game, his running power is improving, he plays with intent. If he can improve his kicking...and he absolutely needs to...he will be a wespon.
