Another week, another game where we got ourselves in to a losing situation and somehow pulled away with a win. Equally frustrating as it is pleasing to know we can do it. There’s definitely some belief being instilled in this list.

Every game has felt like a danger game and we’ve had to fight and scrap to win.

Poor kicking at goal and poor umpiring decisions really soured the game as a whole. If we kicked a bit straighter and had a few of those dodgy calls not go against us, we’d have probably had a comfortable win.

Get Young back and Fyfe injury free and Bradbury is a chance IMO.
The "Bradbury" term is a little overused and definitely not well understood.
Steven Bradbury was a warrior for Australian sport, his Olympic and World Champs medal tally of five included 2 Olympic gold.
He competed in Olympics over 10 yrs and endured extraordinary setbacks.
In the famous 1000 final he won gold after his 4 faster rivals took themselves out !
Yes we can do a Bradbury!

Bolton 53% De.
Erasmus 85
Ras had a great game and Shai not so much but can't really make comparisons of two completely different players. I'm sure Bolton hit the scoreboard more and was involved in more scores. He's frustrating at times but we're in trouble without his 2 goals and 11 score involvements - surely a team high for us.

I was thinking about this during the game. Brayshaw, Clark, and Switta in particular played like they were sick.
Ricciuto mentioned at 3QT we'd run 15km less than Port as a collective. We are generally a high work rate side.
JL looked sick in some of the coaches box shots, really weirdly sweaty

She is heavily influenced by the home crowd. On top of that she is panicky and at times is confused by what is happening on the field. To top that off she is often in a poor position because she isn't quick enough to cover the required amount of ground in time. Basket case selection.

She’s also often too far away and out of position. The goal they kicked after a mark we were screaming was touched, she was about 40m away from the contest. Couldn’t possibly heard or seen it

Bolton was pretty good, just didn’t finish. A couple of his misses were set shots from 50, which is too far out for him. Never see him slot those

Oh, Bradbury was a terrific skater, not by the time he won gold, but had been genuinely one of the fast guys through his career and had been ridiculously unlucky. Passing rivals at the final turn through luck to take the chocolates tho… there’s never been a better example!

And his awesome goal in the 3rd from the boundary line -to make the ball bounce end over end gun barrel straight at that angle along the ground and only 'pop' up after the goal line crazy good 👍 even better was the port supporters reaction in the commentary box😁

Port supporters at the ground were cheering that too.

It was also his strategy knowing he didn't have the pace to go with the others.

After the initial negative thoughts, especially the second quarter, I’m turning optimistic again.

Look, we all want some easy kills BUT you can’t underestimate the minerals it takes to keep doing what we’ve done this year.

When you’re down at 3 quarter time. You’re 100% getting the best of an opposition. It doesn’t matter if it’s the Pies or Port away or Hawks, Carlton, Saints or whoever. Oppositions aren’t ’switching off’.

We lost many of these games last year. Our progress isn’t linear, but there’s improvement. Perhaps next year we elevate again and bury sides earlier.

Many teams have thrown their best punches at us in this latest run. Only Swans (7 wins from last 9) have landed one.

Some other teams are burying sides. Good for them, but no team has our record over the last 11-12 weeks.

The scary thing is, is we can all see the improvement we still hold.

Enjoy the ride.

The umpiring was awful. I think with 4 the disparity of calls increases which makes it a worse product.
Either they need to move to umpiring teams who call all games together or go back to less umpires.
They need to make it a full time profession for starters.

Brayshaw must be carrying something. Not driving thru stoppages with his legs and constantly going for the fend which isn't his thing (lucky not to give away a few high fends)

Bolton personifies the original Neesham dockers, agile, unpredictable capable of the impossible likely to mess up the simple

Think the boys are sore AF after having to dig deep week after week. They were saying at 3qtr time we had run 15km less than port

Watching today wtf was that fifty even for Chappy on Georgiadis? Chappy just stood in his path and held his ground , Georgiadis goes down like he has been shot.

Ports run of goals was largely just a run of poor umpiring going ports way.
Yeah, that one was horseshit. My main worry is if they start rewarding that crap, more players will do it and the slide to soccer begins. We're already seeing it with the head high.

Also the htb on Jacko was rough. He gets it one handed with a guy on his back, whilst simultaneously pushing a guy off, which apparently constitutes prior. Only incentive there is to drop to his knees and take a head hit.

Final rant, staging is also being incentives. Rioli gets a grab on the shoulder and whips his head back like he's been shot. Then there was a 50 for, I assume, playing on? Voss gets a clear in the back, and a high (on the no mark), but because he doesn't stage, he gets nothing. AFL have to be careful here.
