I am very happy for Evans and Motlop sewing up contracts for next year
Evans impressed me with his unflinching commitment against May and last night he did so many things right besides kicking goals.
I have been a critic of Motlop but maybe he has just been growing into the job and last night took that step to be a leader not a bit player. It must be impressed on him that he has to show this on a regular basis. I thought he had been looking like a player that was comfortable with his output (like Charlie) when it has not been enough.

Lord…we may have a special one there.
The most pressing issue I think, is get someone in to curate hair.
We can't have nice looking players hampered by the travesties they currently sport.

Walshy was going for the Forrest Gump/pudding bowl look far too long.
Lift your hair style, and your back will follow.

As for the mangy ,'orphan dog' look favored by Good Lord,
Nothing less than bringing in Michael Caine in his role of Beauty Contest makeover wizard in 'Miss Congeniality' will do.

This is a serious blight. And surprised no thread for it yet exists.

Thenkyou.

Wilson took a bit of time to get the speed and physicality of the game but when he did, had some quality disposals and tackles. Can take some players 50 games, Billy got it in a half of football.

Had a better DE than Noah Anderson and Touk miller. 29 disposals 2nd best on the ground, one behind Rowell. If he is butchering the ball, respectfully, you have blinkers on. If you want to work off fantasy points, 5th overall. There are 10 other players out on the ground, that even on an eye test, should never have been drafted on the basis of quality disposal.
As for naming ball butchers and you waiting. LOL 😂
Are you seriously comparing inside midfielders to a bloke who was playing behind the ball?

At the risk of highlighting one player, Fogerty must go. Those two easy shots missed just make it so much harder. Not where near good enough.
It's not like it's an isolated incident. He just can't kick goals, and struggles to find the footy. We really need to move past him.

What i liked:

Evans
Effort
Lord
HoK did some nice things, keep him in for the last couple
Moir, although quieter

What I didn’t like

Fog, great tackles are not enough
Saad, think we need to start looking to use other options
Umpiring, very ordinary and did cost us at certain times

More broadly:

Ollie’s kicking needs some perspective. Most of his kicks were to a contest which we didn’t win so it looked worse than
It was. Having said that he’s a fair way off being elite for foot skills. Personally i want him out of the backline for next season and Would like to see him in a high half forward role.

Give Wilson the last two we need to see more of him, just not sure at this point.

I can see why the club used the word “into” with regard to Voss. If he doesn’t tinker with the game plan he wont see the end of next season, teams have bodies off the contest and if they win it they’re away. If we win it they have people on the outside of the contest to shut down any run and force a dump kick.

Stop being stubborn Vossy and wake up.

I will say though he is somewhat hamstrung by the players at his disposal. Our true mids are one paced bulls and the faster guys that have stints around the contest can’t do it for long. Appropriate list changes will help. I’m hoping like hell Wright and Voss know this.

TDK’s effort was fine not his greatest game but far from his worst. Also needs to learn how to stay out of the key forward’s
Way.

Summary; new game same old story, most worked hard but with predictable pattern ball movement, not clean with the ball, not enough opportunities to run and carry and created too many contests.

Oh please. Motlop will never make it. Too slow. Can’t crumb. Let him walk.

Evans was handy last night, but that’s his best game ever by far. He wouldn’t get a game anywhere else, and he shouldn’t get a game at Carlton if we are a serious football club.

Evans, Lord had career best games

Carroll, Moir did some nice things

White had a decent 3rd quarter before being subbed 🤦

McKay worked his ass off often triple teamed.

HOK did some nice things…I’d love to see him play the rest of the season

Hollands got plenty of it but majority of his “attacking disposals” ended up in a turnover…he really needs to get that out of his game
Could be fatigue from too much running??

AFL GC Suns being looked after very nicely tonight. Must make finals…..
Rowell plays hard and deserves a lot of frees, but **** me he & the rest of GC were looked after tonight. It's not the run of the mill frees that bother me (though they were so very inconsistent with Holding the ball & High tackles it was unbelievable) it's the BS frees they make up on the spot, particularly momentum changing ones that get my blood boiling.

The other thing that got me foaming at the mouth was the holding. I sat next to the cheer squad last night, and it was just so bad how much Mac Andrew (in particular) and those rotated on Harry were holding on. I mean it was BAD. In the 3rd quarter Mac Andrew had Moir in a full bear hug right under the umps nose and the ump didn't even flinch. Criminal.

And so so obvious that GC were being looked after.
After the AFL commission has pumped millions into GC17, we need to know really.
AFL are sickening atm. They have lost touch with the game so much and it really is about churning out the $$ now.

That is very harsh on Frankie. Looked to me like, he really was not expecting another opportunity at the highest level. Early on, he was playing

with new team mates, new game plan and not enough miles in his legs. Played some good footy in the magoos, earned his spot back in the

seniors. Now paying us back for the faith we placed in him. Last night is no flash in the pan, Frankie has a big heart and footy smarts.

Has now elevated himself to easily be our best small forward. Make no mistake, last night was no fluke.

My view is still that the decision to keep Voss puts the heat back on the senior players.

The younger players certainly showed that they are prepared to play for their coach. I’m betting that behind the scenes Voss has been very good with them and that it’s a fair part of the reason we have stuck fat.

I’m looking forward to bringing Jagga and Harry Dean into this side next year. And with any luck we’ll find ways to see more of the Camporeale boys and Lemmey too.
..but but Voss don't play kids;):p

I have a real soft spot for Fogarty, but I think his time at the club is coming to a close

He is a great pressure player but if you can't score 25m out in front of goal there are some serious questions to be asked about your position at the club.

That May bump earned him MASSIVE respect from me. he had eyes on the ball but knew it was coming and didn't flinch.
He has a LOT of heart and he did all the right things last night. I'd be happy to see him on the list another couple of years.

I'm kind of surprised he gets ridden so hard. Yes his kicking can be a problem, i want him to improve it as much as anyone, but especially compared to where he was before this season (and even the earlier parts or THIS season), he's an otherwise far more rounded footballer that does most everything other than kicking very well. His awareness has improved, he's riding tackles, stronger through the hips, just keeps going all day as we know. And never gives up.

I can't help but think that as much as he might sometimes give it to the opposition, how much more the ball would have sailed the oppositions way without him constantly working like he does.

I’m not sure exactly what changed structurally/game plan wise in the last quarter but it clearly showed that players who we thought were plain ordinary can actually do quiet well…Evan’s exhibit A.

We need more of last quarter football…whatever it was.
Intensity and playing on instinct.

We've seen it before. For some reason or another, whether the playing group, coaching or a bit of both, we struggle with trying to play an actual consistent system. When the shackles come off every now and again, we look good. Albeit may not be sustainable.

More running, more intensity and desperation. We were still contested, but we had multiple guys running giving us multiple options. Plus, momentum is a huge thing. We actually made the Suns panic.

The issue is that it's not sustainable for 4 quarters, so we seem to go slow and hold up play for 3 quarters. It’s not a winning formula. We need to try different tactics in quarter.

Who woulda thought going into 2026 that I’d prefer to see Frankie on the list than TdK?!
