Ryan is to old and well past his best - once again we become the AFL retirement/superannuation village. The most goals he has kicked in any season is 30 in 2019.

For the 2 or 3 years we will be forced to play him surely we can find other much younger alternatives with a future?
Amazing the coaches and list managers haven't taken that into consideration. Jeez we have some dummies, sack SoS and Dalrymple obviously they don't have a clue hey?

Because we have wasted picks on other clubs retirees for decades, what has that achieved?

Even Macrae is already looking like a poor investment given last year's draft strength and what he is getting paid.
You have got to be joking 😂

Go to bed, Steeley Boy.

Macrae has been an excellent recruit. Avg. 25 disposals and 7 clearances a match.

He is ranked 4th in the AFL for clearances per game, 5th in the AFL for contested possessions per game, top 20 in the AFL for tackles.

A poor investment? How can you get things so wrong over and over again?

We also don't know what kind of impact he is having off the field as a leader on the likes of Garcia, Boxshall etc.

This might be your worst call yet 😅

That's right, everything these list managers have done has been wrong, we have to sack them of course

Now this kinda disagreement is the best suited here.
Civil & not too serious
the over & over again, a tad mean
Hats off.

Who's left uncontracted?

1. Boyd- gone
2. Byrnes- most likely
3. Carroll- maybe
4. Cordy- gone
5. Heath- maybe
6. Jones- most likely
7. McLennan- gone
8. Schoey- maybe
9. Webster- most likely

Is that it?

Hard to know what the pressure of leaving has done to TDK. But… some of those games early in the season were absolutely unbelievable. His contested work and presence were as good as I’ve seen this year. Also, the constant rubbish that you don’t pay big money for a ruck is just that. Big blokes are critical at the pointy end. If he gets back to his early season form with the saints, loads of media types will have egg firmly attached.

Was genuinely Carlton's best player and one of the best players in the comp for 5 or so rounds. I think a combination of Carlton falling off a cliff and him and the club knowing he was leaving all year has led to his drop in form. I think if Carlton were 5-0 and pushing for a flag it looks very different for him. It didn't work out that way so they had to try Pittonet as solo ruck which meant he was spending alot of time up forward in a poor I50 delivery side like Carlton.

I think this year has shown us that height insurance is critical. Losing King and Howard has stuffed us structurally and forced us to play guys that aren't AFL ready and has made us use Sharman as our main forward when he should be our 3rd forward. The more gun talls the merrier.

fellas fellas, after such a great moment for our club surely we are better than bringing out receipts, I mean really what good does it achieve? I mean sure, I could bring up the fact that I (along with a few other posters) went early saying we should sign Nas on 2 mil over 2 years and then fight for a longer commitment in 2027, while at the same time the great man stav was arguing that 1.4 over 2 years was overs and he would be demanding a longer deal or let him walk, only to then turn around and celebrate the 2m over 2 years like the rest of us, I could say that, but what good would it do us now? All just to score some imaginary BF forum points, I mean fellas please, we're better than that

I've got nothing to say.

I just wanted to see this again.

The most exciting thing for me next year is our midfield mix … nas hall Phillipou windy Garcia boxshall maybe Wilson macrae prob still in there so much more interesting
and exciting than what we have had

With tdk providing better first service option too like it or not than what row can .. that’s where I see our fast improvement coming from with a fit king and Henry back

It's been a long time since paddy retired- i forgot what it looks like!

This. It'd be one thing to bring in a 29 year old Betts or Breust, because they'd actually make us better. You could count on them regularly kicking well over 30 goals per season.

Ryan's career best is 30 goals and that was in 2019. His accuracy has become quite poor as he got older as well, kicking 35.33 total over the past couple of years. We're not talking about a gun player with a few elite seasons left - he's a GOP at best.

Ryan has the same career goal average as Trent Dennis-Lane.

And Maso.

Honestly props to

Borris
Ross
Tony Brown
Hill
Maso for all their collective work in developing Naz. Arguably developed him perfectly.

Not sure who developed him but whoever it was did a good job. That said he was very good very quickly so a fair bit is probably natural talent.

These guys definitely deserve all the credit for making him feel at home though. Wood and Hill particularly have been father figures to him.

What I think has been important is letting him back himself in.

Let's face it, Nas has been a turnover merchant at times. Not everything has come together when he's gone for the big play. He keeps trying it on though, and it's starting to work more and more. I think the wrong coach may have tried to squash that a little and had him play within himself a bit.

Compare Nas's fearlessness to the likes of a Jack Billings. A player with skills (yes I know Nas is on another level) but never really the courage to try and take a game by the scruff of the neck.

All the misses along the way have contributed to Nas's hits. I'm glad he was given the freedom to be fearless.
