Men like this are incurable. The law does not understand/allow for this and the sentencing is therefore relatively lenient and meaningless. They do not -cannot -“learn the error of their ways” by serving a few years in prison and will certainly reoffend as soon as they can.

Reading that article of his modus operandi produced a shudder.
Back in 1993 my picture appeared in the Herald Sun when I was awarded the Murdoch Fellowship at the VCA.
The next day I had a call from a strange bloke who started off with do I do portraits......he went on with a rapid descent into the disgusting.
One wonders.

As I said above, the name rang a bell from where I worked in the dim dark ages.

What prompted my memory search was the reporting of the address

Ararat is a nice rural city, near the Grampians and some good wineries, but for some people, Ararat is the location of a medium security protection prison for people who may be at risk in a mainstream prison (Billy Longley did most of his time there). For the last 30 or so years, it has also been the home of of the State's prison based Sex Offender's program

The reporting in the News had his full name; unusual for the first reporting of an arrest

The News also had the following line "No details about Mr McKane’s alleged offending were aired during the hearing" hinted that he was under sentence in prison.

Back in the '70's, The Sun during summer used to have photos of young kids in beach scenes; Derek Percy whilst in prison cut out some photos in his written fantasies.

They no longer print those type of photos

A nasty, violent home invasion in Gladstone Park resulted in Kemal Akbulut, 60, being shot, stabbed and assaulted by a group of very well organised thugs. The horror has been captured on camera. These lads are sadists who clearly enjoy the work. I hope the phone they are holding is one of theirs as it means there is a fairly good chance they will be caught, despite the significant precautions they have taken. You can see the disturbing vid in the link.

Shocking. And to think they filmed it.😡😡

Caught! - https://archive.is/jofmz
They were as nasty as they were stupid.
I'll be interested to see if they were nabbed via the phones or perhaps they shared the video.
It was so sadistic they should get the maximum penalty.

Bit OT - I've been watching Mr Inbetween, brilliant. Recommended.

I know it's easy to think that's an exaggeration etc but realistically, I think you'd find most of the population now agree with the sentiment.

Maybe it's naïve, camera phones have allowed us to see more of it than ever before. But it feels like it's far more escalated than it has been previously.
