GWS @ Showgrounds (Saturday Arvo)
Collingwood @ MCG (Friday)
Geelong @ MCG (Saturday)

Would take a miracle but it would be the softer side of the draw
Why?

GWS (Twilight surely) will be fine. We match up well and Weds/Butler back will give us the steel and drive needed to touch them up. I can't see another 10 point interstate loss again. We've learnt heaps this year and Sam will have us firing.

Pies are cooked and Cats don't beat us when it matters.

GF anyone?

Pies will be roadkill. That said, do we actually match up that well on the Giants? We’re 2-4 against them since Covid and have never won at the Showgrounds. Do we have the midfield to go with them?

On paper the midfield is a struggle, but it was worse against Brisbane.

We polish up a bit of stuff and we knock them off.

No time like now to end the Showground curse

Well, us beating the Bulldogs at Marvel is the reason we’re playing finals and the Dogs are going to miss, so I disagree the Collingwood win is our only good win for the season.

But yes, there is clearly scope for improvement, as we’re not yet the finished article.
I was reflecting on this and the 3pt Adelaide win in rd14 after the brisbane loss. Had we not ground out those 2 tough wins we would be in Bali already right now. Things could have been better but also easily they could have been worse.

Totally agree that the Pies are going out in straight sets.

The Giants are also just going. Totally reliant on two prime movers - nothing like Brisbane. Again, no reason we shouldnt beat them even on the paddock.

Clamp Toby and don't let Hogan and Cadman run amok, and we should be ok.

I guess Brown and Ricciardi are also possible options, but we just need to keep up our strong defensive play and stop bombing it to Sam Taylor!

Would've loved to finish in the top 4 for the double chance, but the way we've lost to the top teams recently, I'm not confident we'll make it past week 1 (happy to be wrong).

Overall, we've had a better season than 2024, in a much tighter top 9 than last year. Our wins/percentage this year would've had us in 3rd in 2024. Taking into account that we've been missing Day for majority of the year, and Weddle for a decent portion, also a few players have been down in form at various stages of the year, I think we can view this season as a positive step in the right direction.

I think we're very very close, only a decent midfielder and a preseason from being a genuine top 4 contender. At this stage I'm more keen to see who we can replace Worpel with in the trade period, and getting ready for a massive 2026.

I'm not disappointed in losing last night because Brissy are a better team than us.
But I don't think GWS are. Imo, we can beat them, even at the cow paddock.

Absolutely they are. I don’t think it’s a poor reflection on us. We’ve had a good year when you consider how tough a draw we’ve had this year to last.

We’re winning that game away from being top 4 and we’ve had double up games against 3 of the top 4 sides this year. Compared to Geelong who’ve had one double up against top 8.

It’s not a fix the fixture is what it is but this shit matters at the end of the day and tbh needs to be taken into consideration when trying to define our year so far

Nothing better to help spearhead a run at a flag than overcoming a hoodoo.

Thank God we conceded those 3 late goals to Melbourne.
Everything happens for a reason. Break the Giants hoodoo, get the bye (Pies in the SF) and get the Cats in our favourite slot (PF weekend). Of course all things could turn to shit if we finish seventh and run into the Lions and Crows in successive weeks (so Perth, to Brisbane to Adelaide)

Just gotta hope we don’t suffer from home crowd-assisted umpiring against the rowdy Orange team…

We are in the odd position of wanting Gold Coast to pass us into 7th.

Didn't think they'd need to win by that much.

86 to 60 seems like a realistic possibility.

I'm suddenly more convinced that we'll be going to Perth, which I definitely don't want.

Would laugh if they played silly buggers and lost the game. Would still be shit for us though. The Suns losing against the Power really ****ed us here. I was hoping for a Pies into Suns first two weeks…
