Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period: Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th
AFL Draft: Wednesday, November 19th - Thursday, November 20th

Gut feel says this one might be where Rowan Marshall and Geelong come into play

I can't see Hawthorn taking a pick around the 20 mark for him.

I think our pick will be closer to the mark

12 to GC for a guy playing half forward and was sub.
Terrible asset management

He's only playing HF because they have Rowell, Anderson, Touk, Humphrey and about 15 1st rd academy kids rolling through there and Rioli and Noble at HBF who can only play one position. He would automatically be one of our best players and a genuine AA calibre operator. In a weak draft I would wager he turns out better than anyone we draft at that position and he's a proven commodity that makes the team better tomorrow. Yes it would be great if we could give up less, but I would be more than happy to give up a first. Don't let this season fool you, hes an absolute stud, GC just might be the worst spot for any midfielder right now with their insane depth.

That's a young midfield worth being excited for.

I'd want ALL of Ryan, McKenzie, Flanders and Aleer to not have a first this year.

McKenzie has only played 12 games this year, is not in their best 22 and averages 16.5 touches. In what world is he worth what most think is Marshall's value (Geelongs 1st).

Flanders has real potential and proven form in the midfield, but he probably closer to Marshall in value than pick 7 (maybe pick 12 or so). Plus the nepos are the main ones compromising the draft so they're not allowed to whinge about it being pushed back.

Ryan will be 29 next year. Future 2nd areas (early rather than late).

Aleer is 24 years old and has only played 24 games including 12 this year. This is a trade based on potential. Future 2nd (middle).

With GC/GWS probably wanting points over picks, I'd really hope that we still have a first rounder after that (even if its Adelaides).

Obviously his second half was poor, but breaking his hand caused him some issues post surgery, played the first half of the season

My question to you is why his manager would use a club that’s just signed a 2million a year deal and TDK on a reported 1.8million deal to leverage a better deal? Surely use a club with more cap room eg essendon?

hawthorn board seems to think mackenzie is a slow and bad decision maker, tries to do too much and coughs it up, he can't even get a game for them, yet people here think he's worth our first... weird

CMac will cost us our first with maybe a 2nd coming back. Aleer will cost us that 2nd. Flanders would be next years first and Ryan next year's 2nd.
Our TPP would be so far over the cap you can say goodbye to Windy, Marshall and Steele along with others just to balance it.
So we will pay a king's ransom for one player that improves us in Flanders. None of the others improve us much at all.
TDK is no better than Marshall.
I like CMac but he is no better than Windy.
Flanders is an improvement on Steele due to his age.
Aleer is no better than Howard or Camaniti.
Ryan I don't see where he even fits in unless we know Henry will never play again.
I hope I am wrong but I think this could blow up in our faces and leave our salary stuffed for years.

Not at all surprising and the nature of how these things work nowadays.

Still, it seems Hawks have suggested they’ll listen, and we’re probably pretty keen, so just a watch this space maybe. IMO it doesn’t happen this trade period

Well see if the hawks and the media shut this down tomorrow which I’d expect since you think there is an extension on the way

Options are to flip:

• Marshall's value for Mackenzie or Flanders.
• Windhager's value + Change for Mackenzie or Flanders.
• Steele's value for Ryan.
• Future 2nd for Aleer.
• Heath's value + Change for Aleer.

I hope the JSOS interest let's us baulk a GWS deal for Aleer if they are asking too much.
