That’s a very defender heavy team.

9 defenders in the team, with 3 being tall defenders that have played 87-95% time on ground, with all the other defenders above 80%.

The Crows must be playing Smith as the sub and Max in the forward line, otherwise you’ve constantly got 2 defenders on the bench.

Collingwood running two ruckman against ROB strategy. Very good move by then I have to say. Creative since pretty much anything else would've been more of the same. Bit worried about this to be honest.

Feels like playing Andy Otten in a GF.

Nah, it's different. Losing McGovern was disastrous because of how much a four-tall forward line depends on who the four talls are, and notwithstanding that this issue was compounded by losing Greenwood early to injury (which does go under the radar, but it's a serious disaster) as he did make us a more dynamic unit defensively. After all, the way to work out of a weaker structure offensively is double down on your defensive game, seeing that'll help generate turnovers.

In this situation? We don't get anything out of this slot anyway. Pedlar, Cook and Murphy are some of the worst small forwards in the league, and the good news is it's hard to subtract from 0.

On the bright side for Dowling, he has technically ended the home and away season as, statistically, our second most dangerous forward:

We can swing Max around if needed. Much more flexibility.

Bond will play on Elliot again and deservedly so.

That's not good flexibility. After all, it's either taking one of our better field kicks away from our defense (when playing Max forward, though its not a heavily utilized skill in Max's case) or we're running a dead slot in our defense as we have an additional player who doesn't produce a lot offensively (when Max played in defense).

If we're not using one of the two as an 100% forward with a specific role in mind, this is a cowardly selection that will inevitably come to bite us against a team that defends as well as Collingwood. At 100% forward with a specific role? You can at least make the case that spot is already a dead one so there isn't much consequence should the gamble not work and you're not adding another defender who doesn't produce much offensively.

Cox isnt much of a chop out, there's a reason why hes not played much this year.

Thilrhorpe will monster Cox in the ruck and if he can drag him deep into the forward line it would be a demolition job.

So this game boils down to whether Collingwood can stifle our ball movement again. If they do, it’ll be a tussle. If they can’t our forward line will blow them away.

It's essentially midfield. If we break even or better in the midfield we'll win. Our most important players are Peatling, Soligo and Berry tomorrow night.
