To gain SOS at 900k and loose Wilkie on much less is a mind bending way of building a list.

I can see a sort of logic if they're wanting to hit the draft or go after some other players. Bring in JSOS as a free agent, pay him what you'd probably be willing to pay Wilkie, Wilkie gets pissed and poached but because he's contracted you can get a first rounder back.

Basically flip one mature key defender for another and walk away with a first round pick to spend elsewhere.

They'll seemingly have a crack at doing the same with TDK/Marshall, unless they really think they can play both.

Now...that does of course leave aside any cultural considerations. I have no idea how well-liked Wilkie is, but I'm assuming given he's talked up as a potential Captaincy option for them, he's probably well-respected. Marshall seems a solid sort as well. Overpaying two new recruits, using that to push out some dependable senior players for picks...it could be transformative for them, or kickstart a mini rebuild or list rejuvenation. But it could also get a lot of players off-side and create some massive cultural rifts in a club that has some history in that space.

Aren’t we hopeful Jagga will be a similar version of Butters?

Take Gulden everyday of the week. Lefties 👍
Not a big fan of Warner, underperformed most of this season and not someone to rely on as your major star but WCE may bide their time for FA (be smart to - they need to boost their squad with young talent and high-end picks, though Shannahan shows there’s talent from mid-picks).

Butters as a FA would be good but having to trade would hurt us next year.
Jagga is young and we hope he develops into a good player for us

Having jagga however shouldnt stop us getting Butters (if we actually had the opportunity and willingness)

Hello Snuff. ☺️Is he a good player. Genuine question.
Ive made a few other posts in here explaining him but short answer:

I am definitely verging on hater when it comes to Reidy but as someone who watches Peel a lot
  • He gets possessions through nothing but size at WAFL.
  • He literally cant jump over a jam tin and wins hitouts being twice the size (width wise) of 90% of WAFL rucks
  • His tapwork is atrocious, it's the WAFL equivalent of Xerri just palming it nowhere (or directly to the oppo) in the hopes he can follow it up and do nothing with it.
  • He struggles to pick up the ball because he's so fumbly
  • Because he's so fumbly, he cant mark for shit.

Other than all that, great bloke, best of luck to him...
So a Temu Sandilands basically

So, he must be cheap as chips and nothing much else available that we're willing to cough up for at the trade table.

A mature age "youngster" who will play backup to Pitto.

Exciting times!
He (and anyone else brought in) will be a win - as long as he doesnt make those around him play worse. Thats more than can be said for some that are departed or will be departed. AFL is a team game - it is time that the Carlton players figured that out.
