Apologies for the late night post … been out for a very interesting dinner.
1. Wright is a weapon but he’s not perfect. Thinks little of the soft touch culture which has infected the club in recent years.
2. Has given players and coaches a clear direction. We are with you if you are with us.
3. Curnow is on the block. As are Motlop and McGovern. Has set Curnow management on fire and are filthy. Told them to stump up or FO.
4. Made a hard call on Doc and JSOS. Hasn’t made many happy but …
5. Expect further board change … They were clear on the players being the problem.
To no5.

Board change huh. More jobs for their mates via the "independent nominations committee"...

We actually going to see a football focused board.

Totally. And yet some internally not only thought these were good decisions, but doubled down when questions were raised.
Way too late … but at least now we have someone saying WTF with the power to deliver and has an impetus for change. No guarantee but the alternative would be far worse IMO.
Adding to this. Which i have been questioning for multi years now....

Brian Cook and his "reviews". Can we scrutinise this for what it was worth. Lip service.

If we take 2024 alone. It was blatantly clear there were selection integrity issues, favourtism and crazy vossy in action.

Yet none addressed. 0 consequences or accountability for poor decision making

Complacency and incompetence

Walter is the exact type I’d take in a trade for Charlie. KPF’s don’t grow on trees and while he’s not the finished article, you can clearly see the talent and potential he’s got.

Potential is a dirty word, I know he has talent.

Correct. Several of our players were offered approx. 400k more to move elsewhere back when that was the equivalent to a decent best 22 player (i.e. similar money to what we paid Acres to come across) so although performances dropped that's what it's really about.

See above.

Allegedly, some of the group feel like they sacrificed hundreds of thousands of dollars each but we still ended up with the following list turnover:

Out: Ed Curnow (retired), Lachie Plowman, Lochie O'Brien, Zac Fisher, Paddy Dow, Jack Martin, David Cuningham, Caleb Marchbank, Matt Owies, Matt Kennedy, Jack Carroll

In: Elijah Hollands and Nick Haynes. We added Fantasia and Evans late in SSP the last two years. The other additions were all kids who had a low likelihood of helping them win.
Did they really sacrifice though😉

No one knows what each other are earning, those last 2 paragraphs of the ins and outs tell a very different story. Was very much Neville Bartos “No cash here”

Thanks bigblueboy
Love this, especially point 4.
All 5 points can fix our culture.
Keep the updates coming 👍

Precisely AB, the focus has finally turned and we are seeing which ones dont want to take accountability.

I reckon we’d be in a worse position player wise if another coach was bulleted, GW at least had the balls to call it out.

Culturally, even if Voss is gone at the end of 26, the accountability for performance is the person you’re looking at in the mirror

Walter or Humphrey the centrepiece, Rosas is a butter knife though and need more than that. Flanders, Rosas and a favourable pick swap and I’m all in
Walter and Humphrey or Flanders would be a great outcome, i would put Charlie on the back of my pushbike and deliver him myself.

Come on Rob, we are not getting both Walter and Humphrey in a million years.

We need to be realistic, both of those guys are incredibly talented with inbuilt desire levels, intent and willingness that will make them both great footballers.

I’d be happy with either being the centrepiece, my son would be over the moon happy if we got Humphrey. He’s his favourite footballer outside of Carlton in the comp, and I love him too but I just have this sneaking feeling Dimma loves him the most so I reckon it’s a pipe dream. I’d be stoked to Walter though, and I reckon he’d be a chance as Goldy have depth already in the key forward posts and others coming through like Read

Rosas is a myth. Can’t get a game…
It’s not an easy team to break into, they have a very potent forward line already and not lacking pace all over the ground.

I don’t think he’s fit enough yet to keep doing gut busting runs over an over and over. So, he would be speculative for us to pick up but he does have something we lack in speed and his goal sense is pretty reasonable also.

He’s the type you add to a trade like those infomercials where you buy something for $100 and get 5 extra things for another $10. May be handy, probably not, but it’s cost you **** all anyway.

Uh oh.

I guess Liam's going to be our only ruck then. Those 2cm make a world of difference.

Also in the '202 & below' club:
Brodie Grundy, Tristian Xerri, Rowan Marshall, Rhys Stanley, Todd Goldstein, Luke Jakson, Toby Nankervis, Reilly O'Brien, Ethan Reid, Matt Flynn, Bailey Williams, Dante Visentini, Kieran Strachan, Tom Campbell...
Send comparisons to Wright, he's the one that made the comment.

202cm isn't tall enough these days? Reidy is only 204
Did you read what I wrote, or you just want to deride the messenger?
The most important person at the club does not believe that HOK is capable of being the number 1 ruck, and as such he's on the hunt for an additional ruckman.

I'm in a very lucky position that I get to go to some interesting dinners myself. Was at a dinner last week with Sam Mitchell.

Sam said something about the difference between leadership and management. He said leadership is making hard decisions that have to be made, even if everyone doesn't like them.

Management is when everything is going well and you just tweak things to keep it humming.

He talked about the decision to trade out O'Meara and Mitchell. Was a very hard decision that some were not happy with, but he had the vision which is now paying off.

On a side note. Mitchell is absolutely brilliant. The way he thinks about the game is 1st class.

Couple other premiership captains there too.

Alot of very insightful things were talked about.
