Correct. Several of our players were offered approx. 400k more to move elsewhere back when that was the equivalent to a decent best 22 player (i.e. similar money to what we paid Acres to come across) so although performances dropped that's what it's really about.

See above.

Allegedly, some of the group feel like they sacrificed hundreds of thousands of dollars each but we still ended up with the following list turnover:

Out: Ed Curnow (retired), Lachie Plowman, Lochie O'Brien, Zac Fisher, Paddy Dow, Jack Martin, David Cuningham, Caleb Marchbank, Matt Owies, Matt Kennedy, Jack Carroll

In: Elijah Hollands and Nick Haynes. We added Fantasia and Evans late in SSP the last two years. The other additions were all kids who had a low likelihood of helping them win.
Plowman retired too, and Fantasia was a DFA.

Surely the only 3 they could argue with there are Dow, Martin and Kennedy. Hollands, Haynes and Jagga were reasonable swaps.

I’m guessing that Houston was the target players hoped would be landing. He would have improved the side but enough to challenge ?

NB Cook said top 4 so if the CEO was a fantasist ……
Houston has shown this year that even with Pies far better strategy on game day he’s only been average and wouldn’t of helped us much at all.

You have to question why they dropped Hewitt for the GWS game in 24. Quite possibly the worst team selection decision amid a myriad of others.

We were questioning it at the time and most have been filthy about it since. Also brought Cottrell straight in too and made Owies sub (and tbf to him, he was performing well at the time).

Cottrell is a good player for us, but he's no walk up best 22 player and 6 weeks out straight back in was bs.

Then he kept Cerra in the side when he was clearly underperforming, played him at hb which was also clearly not working...

Then there were the EF selection disasters...

But I've been saying it for a while now... there are players in this team that think they run the place... and when they don't get their way, they sook it up. They don't care about the fans, they don't care about the monogram and unfortunately, always felt safe because it didn't matter how bad they performed, their spot in the side was guaranteed...

You strut like the guy dances in Boney M right? Right?
3 sisters - 'Mum, we want to start a band'
Mum - 'Sure...but only if you take your brother with you'.

Can thank the lavish spending on players like Williams and Gov...

Plus Walsh, Charlie, Harry, Cripps and Weiters were all on $1M+ anyway... Cerra pretty close to that too...

As for that turnover, if they were any good... we would have got something in return for them...

Plowman, LOB, Dow and Carrol had pretty much zero currency...

Fisher we got back close to what we spent on him.

Martin, Cunners, Marchbank - given so many chances, they just couldn't get their bodies right.

Losing Owies and Kennedy hurt, but at least for Kennedy we got the pick for HOF.

But yeah, it's not like we had an opportunity to turnover those players for something in return.

Jed Walter is a physical freak. Think Charlie pre-knee injuries.

At this point he's more athlete than footballer and learning the nuances of the game is where he's at, kind of your classic key forward who will take some time, but when he clicks he'll absolutely bloody click, much like Charlie.

There's a reason he's said the player he models his game on is Charlie. A key difference, though, is Jed chases and tackles like his life depends on it.

I don't think the Suns would make that trade tbph, unless he really, really wants out.

One would assume that if the Suns traded for Charlie then Walter might actually want out with his path blocked.:thumbsu:

Maybe GC are worried that Walter will want to play for his childhood/family club in West Coast some day?

He only moved to GC from WA as a 12 year old. He idolised NicNat and Josh Kennedy growing up.
Trade Charlie to GC
Receive Jed Walter in exchange

Two years later...

Trade Jed Walter to WC
Receive Harley Reid in exchange

Apologies for the late night post … been out for a very interesting dinner.
1. Wright is a weapon but he’s not perfect. Thinks little of the soft touch culture which has infected the club in recent years.
2. Has given players and coaches a clear direction. We are with you if you are with us.
3. Curnow is on the block. As are Motlop and McGovern. Has set Curnow management on fire and are filthy. Told them to stump up or FO.
4. Made a hard call on Doc and JSOS. Hasn’t made many happy but …
5. Expect further board change … They were clear on the players being the problem.

Thats been clear for a long time now.

Adding to this. Which i have been questioning for multi years now....

Brian Cook and his "reviews". Can we scrutinise this for what it was worth. Lip service.

If we take 2024 alone. It was blatantly clear there were selection integrity issues, favourtism and crazy vossy in action.

Yet none addressed. 0 consequences or accountability for poor decision making

Complacency and incompetence
Luke Sayers promoted a lipservice, fake review, no action culture. President's set the tone. That is why they are important

Humphreys from the Suns is the guy we need to be chasing if considering a trade for Charlie.

He is a Victorian and looks the goods for only 20 years old. A mid that can hit the scoreboard and also plays as a dangerous hard to match up on forward is definitely the type we need.

If we could bring in Humphreys along with Gruzewski and Gothard from the Giants, it transforms our forward line into something not so slow and much more dangerous options than what we currently have imo. Plus having Humphreys run through the midfield alongside Jagga and our midfield looks a whole lot different also. 2 birds 1 stone

Would take Humphrey and a 1st in a heartbeat.

I’d dink Charlie up to the GC on my unicycle which I don’t have and then let him keep it and walk back if they offered us that

Don’t worry. Charlie has one. He rides it to training regularly.

I ripped one of the muscles in my shoulder helping my mum into bed the other week. And because I'm her primary care giver, I am not recovering properly. When I rotate my shoulder, it clicks and hurts.
Get into close grip rowing, with both hands then independently. The shoulder is the most unstable body part we have due to it high range of mobility. Lots of muscles behind the shoulder help keep it in a healthier position and stronger with rowing. Hope mum is well.

Come on Rob, we are not getting both Walter and Humphrey in a million years.

We need to be realistic, both of those guys are incredibly talented with inbuilt desire levels, intent and willingness that will make them both great footballers.

I’d be happy with either being the centrepiece, my son would be over the moon happy if we got Humphrey. He’s his favourite footballer outside of Carlton in the comp, and I love him too but I just have this sneaking feeling Dimma loves him the most so I reckon it’s a pipe dream. I’d be stoked to Walter though, and I reckon he’d be a chance as Goldy have depth already in the key forward posts and others coming through like Read
And they ain’t getting Charlie.

You're going to see a lot of symbolism and strong culture language being used.

He used the basic gist of it in the Chris Davies letter.

Expect more of that.

The proof will be in the pudding as to whether it's hot air or more than words. I'm hopeful.
Voss has been much more direct as well. The fluffy and waffle is gone. His interview with King and Kane was the clearest I've heard him talk.

Already seeing the Wright changes. Diplomacy out the window. Carlton First or f off.
