Who am I missing in that last 20 years or so of key / gun forwards moving around? It's uncanny how successful these moves look for the purchasing club on average. Premierships are hard to win and clubs bringing in big name forwards win them…?

Which is probably why we'd be keen on Walter.

But you can add Franklin (Hawks won 2 flags after he left - Swans 0), Gehrig, Patton and Tippett to your failed list...

Any deal of Charlie to Geelong would have to involve O'Sullivan + additionals and it just won't happen.

Any deal of Charlie to GC would have to have one of Walter OR King + additionals and it just won't happen.

Any deal of Charlie to Sydney would have to have Gulden on his own OR Warner + additionals and it just won't happen.

Anyone who thinks we will trade Charlie for picks and fringe players will be sad come the end of post week. He's too important to us. We are already losing TDK and JSOS. The club won't let itself have another perceived loss. So any deal of Charlie would have to be able to be spun as a win for us. Will require a huge return. I'm not at all worried about this. We either get a great deal that benefits the club or we keep a very very good player.

Have you had a look at what numbers those 1st round picks were? Or what Geelong got back?

One of the 1st rounders was pick 25 at the draft and the Cats got back 2 picks in the 20s

I don't see Wright carving to average offers, it is hard to see the deal being done unless someone is giving high picks or players of quality.
Geelong is a No, Walter looks boom or bust would need much more than him.
Sydney are not giving up any of their top 5, very high probability it will play out similar to Petracca.

Bailey Humphrey and pick 6 thanks for coming.

Chances are that turns into 7 but I would be surprised if Richmond or Essendon bid on Dean. Should be able to sneak a pick in before the bid which would be a huge win.

Slide pick 9 (TDK compo) back a bit for some more points in case they are needed. Either that or potentially for a mid 1st and a second next year to help with Cody if a bid comes later than expected.

These clubs aren’t serious about it trading for Charlie. Not that we’d be interested in Amartey or McDonald but they are determined to land Charlie to link up with those two, plus Warner, Gulden, Heeney and Blakey are untouchable.

So what’s the deal??

Sam Edmund reported today on SEN with Gerard Whateley, Suns are currently in talks to extend Walter and he’s not getting traded same with Ethan Reed (btw don’t rate Reed)

So again what’s the deal??

Can I ask why would saying Geelong is the preference put pressure on Carlton to do a trade when they seemingly have the worst potential deal for Curnow?

It was the Guantanamo Bay part that was the bullying part. Not the Charlie wants to go to Geelong part.

Wright, Austin and Co will get a very good offer from the Suns and it will get done. Probably will need to involve a few clubs to get a very decent outcome. No chance it involves top tier players so it will need to be a bundle that gives our club the opportunity to get better over this season and next with players and high end picks.

I’m confident Charlie will be at the Suns.
