Hes exactly what our team has been missing for a very very long time. Personally hope we get him and he goes off at the soft cockatoos in our team.

I wouldn’t be recruiting him if that were the case. There’s no doubt he has caused dramas at Melbourne but I think in a new environment where he isn’t expected to be a senior leader, coming into the twilight of his career, he could be a real asset to our younger players. In the end there was no one to put him in his place at the Dees and his white line fever got the better of him.

I really think he’d work well with Weitering above him in our backline. Haynes and Newman too. His primary role would be locking down the opposition full forward and protecting the likes of Dean, HOF, Carroll, Cowan and Wilson as they filter through the side.

You’ve got to trust the club in their due diligence but from the outside looking in it seems a no brainer.

Do Sydney actually have multiple first rounders this year and next as the article suggests?

I could see a 3 club trade where we end up with pick 2, another first, Chesser and some points to cover Dean.

WCE end up with some later picks and Warner or McDonald back go WA. They will have to release a name.

I don’t think we can be satisfied by a single club whether it’s Sydney or GC.

This is the only way I see Sydney getting it done too

So Ralph’s saying the Swans are the best chance because Cats and Suns are no chance…
I dont subscribe to that paper, i agree the Cats are no chance but why not GC? They have lots of quality kids, have quite a few picks, will get another ok pick for Fiorini FA compo and have players to potentially trade to other clubs to get more picks.

We are really narrow in focusing on GC, Cats and Swans but GC could do a deal where we get players and picks from another club, I see GC as having way more flexibility to get a deal done than anyone else, or Brisbane.

He's a key defender. Who cares about his stats? This isn't Supercoach.

What about goals against?

He had more goals against him this year than he's ever had in his entire career.

As stated, I havent seen him play this year. Based on his statistics alone, he hasnt fallen away from anything he's produced in the last 5 or 6 seasons.

where are these statistics?

Flanders and a first for Charlie Curnow ?(the same Charlie Curnow with a four year contract and has won 2 of the last 3 Coleman Medals, our marquee player all over the membership packs, kids merch and pretty much every Carlton supporter under 12s favourite player?)

It’s quite simple this is a BIG football AND Business decision for this club.. this deal requires board approval with the following considerations to be front and centre

Football
List management
Membership
Finance
Culture (club and player)

This is not some free agent or pre agent we’re talking about here. This is an asset (yes asset) the club owns (yes owns) for four more years.

If he’s traded for Flanders and a first the board needs to go!! Simple as that.

People need to snap out of it!

Dont be ridiculous. The club doesnt own him. If he retired tomorrow to go surfing for the next 5 years there's SFA the club can do about it.

Still think GC because I reckon once they express an interest we can go hard at Walter based on the lack of opportunities he'll be getting and also Humphrey based on homesickness and feelings for Carlton.
Put solid long term contracts in front of each.
If GC are looking to deal and we have one or two key players open to coming our way then there's a fair chance to proceed.

The talk in here of this club won’t do this player or that draft pick for Charlie, is insane.

Charlie is:
  • 2022 & 2023 Colman medalist, would have been 2024 if it wasn’t for an ankle injury at the end of the year.
  • Contracted until 2029
  • An icon for our junior supporters.
Any team, you want him. We’ve named our price, an elite player/ plus.

Don’t want to pay it, then **** off and we’ll get to business on other deals.

None of that means anything for a guy who is reportedly/ or bluemoured to be no longer wanting to play for this club. He could just retire and go surfing for the next 12 months and decide he wants another crack in 2027.
