If we get additional rookie list spots from the AFL we could potentially move Barnett there to create an extra spot on the main list - which hopefully we do
Surely you just pay him out, he's clearly not up to it.

Thought we might have done that but it’s been a month since our season ended so I think if we were going to cut him we’d have done so by now - would have given him a chance to try find a new home.

Do suspect only one of Barnett or Livingstone will be on our list next year - prefer Livingstone but think it’ll be Barnett

We'll need wait til this week to see if the AFL decides to give us extra cat b rookie spots or not. If it doesn't happen, we'll only 7 spots to fill including the NGA kids. Will need to cut both if it it doesn't happen.

You've listed CDT as a ruck for some reason. He should be listed as a Bailey Williams. (A player that does nothing but help the other team)

The Coen Hate on here is excessive. He needs more time. He's on our rookie list give the kid a break.
I don't hate him (I want him back to the Demons, after all).

I do however question whether he's mobile enough for the AFL. I think he projects as a good WAFL player. Potentially very good at that level.

His lack of athleticism holds him back. Likes to compete and gives a full effort but at AFL level I’m not sure he’d be able to get from contest to contest over the course of a full game

That said, he’s still only 20 and only been in the AFL system for 2 years so I hope he’s retained to see what he’s like after another AFL preseason

Curtin looks like an upgrade on Jack Williams to me, and I’m a Jack Williams fan. Definitely worth a look if he’s around at our 2nd or even if we keep the hawks first potentially which will be in the 20s.

Curtin needs to lose weight and get fit and I would agree. Curtin is much more a FF whereas Jack Williams as a junior and even now is still more a CHF type even if he doesn't really have the agility for it.

I thought his agression might allow him to make it at AFL level, to me he just looks like a good WAFL player. He lacks athleticism and is a poor shot on goal as well in general. Bit hard to make up unless you're going to be absolutely dominant up forward.

Certainly a fall from what was a very good 2024 for Curtin.
Not sure what has happened but he can't play at AFL level with that lack of athleticism.
While JW has fallen behind Shanahan, he still provides a decent project or depth KPF with his ruck abilities.
WC will need to add another KPF in the next couple of years to replace Waterman longer term, but Curtin doesn't look it and I would certainly be looking forward to what K LeCras can offer next year, probably CHF size at the moment.

He's been eating the whole time.
I would have thought there was more to it.
He was having an outstanding 2024 and had very good athletic ability and his brother also has those traits in spades, I don't have any insight but to go from where he was to now, seems more complex to me?

Hate is a stretch by you. But if you watch coen play he has limitations which are unlikely to hold him in good stead at AFL level.

In the past we have held onto players who clearly won’t make it at AFL level for at too long.

Major list churn is a necessary evil for a rebuilding team.

IIRC someone on here mentioned that he had a health issue behind the scenes that might have hampered his fitness?

Churn for the sake of it doesn't improve things. He could be a legitimate ruck if he can get a little bigger. Rucks take time, especially the less mobile ruckman. He wont be Gawn but could see him being Reily O'Brien or something if given time. He's 20 and lots has to go right but he seems to have the grit and heart that we need. He also seems to have a reasonable footy IQ and gets into good positions on the regular. He regularly forced repeat entries to forward 50 from clearing kicks this year.

I’m not doubting his heart, I like the way he goes about it.

But at 199cm he is undersized to be a ruckman and his lack of athleticism is a bad combo with that height.
