Wasn't good enough. Heath would be the one to keep.

Marshall not only gives us an upgrade but his rucking can significantly help with the development of certain players. It's painstaking watching us concede most ruck duels.
God forbid if Brisbane stumbled across an A grade ruckman with the midfield they currently have.
Ok I'm not sure Marshall is your guy then but if he wants to go there then fair enough.

Heath has a 3 year contract in front of him at Melbourne. I would expect us to offer him a year at minimum chips but I don't think Ross rates him all that highly. Based on where he started the year, he has improved out of sight, but will get better security and cash elsewhere. They dont seem that super keen to keep heath though?
Boyd was a pretty sizeable recruiting error, not that he cost anything. Top bloke, not an AFL footballer unfortunately.
The hope would be Dodson, based on how well be performed when rucking solo in the VFL, would surpass Heath within the next 12 months in terms of strength and fitness. Heath is a solid long term backup where Dodson has potential to be the main guy. They dont seem that super keen to keep heath though?
Personally I feel we should move away from this now.
I'd prefer a "Gap Year" or mini-rebuild where we focus on bringing in more youth and seeing what our VFL/fringe guys have, than topping up again with a 30 year old.
We're constantly contending with a bunch of late picks, rookies, and rejects....but the gap in pure unadulterated talent that you get from multiple top young draft picks was very evident yesterday.
calling Marshall a “top up” whilst simultaneously whinging about talent beating you. Why do you care? You (supposedly) desperately want to keep him.calling Marshall a “top up” whilst simultaneously whinging about talent beating you.
If you haven’t seen much of Marshall, say so.
As long as he gets a pre season. He is back to being a top ruck. What he lacks in ruck craft. He makes up plenty as a follower.
This is not the year to be grabbing youth unless it's via trade. Our VFL fringe guys are not the answer.Personally I feel we should move away from this now.

I'd say Marshall is better for our list development than any kids we draft this year. He can protect the Jhye Clark's etc.Personally I feel we should move away from this now.

Because I don’t have my head in the sand. Marshall evidently wants to join you guys and as long as you pay what we want. He will be a cat.Why do you care? You (supposedly) desperately want to keep him.
If we prefer going a younger route and not trading for him, then bully for us. Nothing you should get so upset over.

He has been instrumental in each of our wins against you the last few years. You have seen it first hand
you smashed brisbane omly a few weeks earlier. don't be so reactionaryPersonally I feel we should move away from this now.

He is CONTRACTED.What you want and what you get aren’t going to be the same.
It’s always the case when you lose a player whether they are contracted or not.
I imagine Flanders deal is priority so they’d want to get Marshall done early so they can move onto that.
Clubs would already have this sorted out by now. Trade request will be announced soon.
Then we probably walk away in that case.He is CONTRACTED.
What we want. Is exactly what we will get if this deal happens. Losing the grand final in the manner you did has taken away any take it or leave it leverage you had.
I hope you do. He's worth more to us than anything you could offer in this weak and compromised draftThen we probably walk away in that case.
Sounds like it might be a good win-win outcome then.I hope you do. He's worth more to us than anything you could offer in this weak and compromised draft
I don't think that's true simply because you wouldn't be taking that pick to the draft but using it to get other players.I hope you do. He's worth more to us than anything you could offer in this weak and compromised draft
How is not getting an instant improvement in your weakest area of the ground a win for Geelong?Sounds like it might be a good win-win outcome then.
We'll be using our first this year for Flanders (if he nominates us), likely a future second or third for Ryan and Aleer wont cost more than our third this year, with talks that he may even be walked to the PSD. TDK and JSOS won't cost picks. We don't need Marshall's pick to help us with the other trades.I don't think that's true simply because you wouldn't be taking that pick to the draft but using it to get other players.
If the Saints demand major overs - as many of their supporters here seem to want with all the "WE hold all the power so pay up!!" stuff - then it is a 'win' if we walk away. How is not getting an instant improvement in your weakest area of the ground a win for Geelong?

Well I can’t imagine we are going to trade him for your current pick 17.Im not sure your team is going to trade him but we will see.
