2025 List Management Discussion - Part 4

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period: Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th
AFL Draft: Wednesday, November 19th - Thursday, November 20th

Where is the Steele is staying comment coming from? Has something been announced or clarified?

Apologies if this specific post has already been uploaded, but I am confused. What does “increased its offer” mean? Did Wilkie extend and has signed on an increased offer? Or have we just increased his salary for the next two years he was contracted? Or something else?

If we just upped his salary when already contracted without getting something in return, then that would be suboptimal.

Can anybody shed any light on this, please?

A player contract= years & salary you would assume
Guessing they have added two more years to his current contract & upped his salary.
Around the $ 1 mill. mark per year.
Doubt that we had to match the Bullies offer.

Would hate to see Steele keep Garcia or Boxshall out of the side moving forward.

Can't see any logical fit for him elsewhere. I expect he is playing 2s next year on occassion.

It's exactly as we have been saying for months, he will get a bump and probably the captaincy.
He breathlessly claims ' a significant increase to the offer'. He hasn't a clue and it will be worked out after trade period.

Can't have Higgins Ryan Butler Collard and throw in Henry in there as well. We can only have 2 small forwards, with King Sharman Owens and a rotating mid forward like Hall.

We cannot play them all is what I alluding to. Is it Butler to GCS or Byrnes to WCE then?

Is it possible it's coming from him wanting to explore his options or head back Geelong way?

Could there be a Marshall/Hastie combined deal in the works?

Would think he gets the first crack on Jimmy Websters spot. Depending on how we setup our backline, I would think at least 2 of Stock, Hastie and Clark (and maybe O'Connell) play in our backline every week.

Byrnes more than likely gone.
Won’t hold onto Ari just because of Tasmania. Hasn’t shown all that much yet, so won’t necessarily get us all that much.

Besides which - injuries. Both Butler and Henry barely played last year.
Happy for Collard to spend some time developing in the twos with some games in the seniors when earned.

Not sure how you can tell attitude from afar. He’s a young kid, far from home. He’ll be fine. All of which is irrelevant anyway because we’ve contracted him for three years so must see something in him.

Max Hall is the only current rookie on the list,
so we need to fill 3 spots.
We could drop players from the main list to do this
