Trade Requested Deven Robertson - Requested a trade to the West Coast

Well yeah - he ain't coming to the Eagles?

What's your point?

I don't doubt the club is trying, but Robertson has made it clear he is open to moving to Victoria, where he will find at least one middle of the pack suitor, probably more (think Carlton, Melbourne, Essendon).

All trump the prospect of starting fresh at rock bottom - especially when your main card to play is 'I couldn't crack the best but I can probably play for the rest'.

Oops

Would he quite funny to see him choose to go to WB.

If he does that, then he must really love playing VFL.

Obviously doesnt want to play any afl again just wants a wage to sit in the vfl.

Treloar last year and Libba is close at 33. Even Bont will be 30 next year.

He wouldn’t have to wait much longer.

Plus he would be better than McNeil in the forward line I bet.
Dogs were going hard for Erasmus before he resigned. I assume Dev is their 2nd option for a more defensive inside mid. Richard’s was a slow burn so maybe Bevo thinks he can do it again from under another teams nose.

No one wants to go to West Coast.

Libba gets managed in 2026. I think Dev has a better chance of playing more games with us. The lions have another academy kid to add to their mix too

This.

Doggies have Treloar/Libba on the exact last leg they have. He has a spot in the long term. I think if Doggies give him a 2 year deal he will go.
To be honest, if Treloar gets on the paddock he might not be attending many CBAs anyway.

If I’m Dev I’m only choosing the Dogs if I’m guaranteed games. Dev isn’t going to develop playing more VFL, he’s tapped out in that regard. He needs senior exposure to see what he’s got. Same boat as Ben Keays was in.

Can he play any other position?
He played a bit of HB in past years but his pace was noticeably gone during the VFL finals series.
A lot will depend on his pre-season. He might be that HF that pushes up to the contest which is how we've structured up almost every year since 2015.

If the Doggies give Dev a genuine opportunity, he’ll repay them in spades. At Brisbane, he was essentially cast as Dunkley’s understudy, a tough gig given Dunks’ remarkable durability. That meant Dev rarely got the chance to showcase his strengths in that hybrid defensive/offensive lockdown midfield role.

For the Lions, this should be a straightforward trade, some late picks or pick shuffling to unlock value for points. For Dev, it’s a shot at real minutes and a system that might just suit him better.

Might be time for the Don to bring ol uncle Darren back into the fold and see if he can get dev over the line!

I get you are poking fun but I am confused why?

I don't particularly want to guy, have conceded that he is unlikely to pursue a move west based on previous experiences and basically said he'll go anywhere but WCE.

Is it just funny because he's a fringe player at a good team, nephew of Darren Glass and even he doesn't want to play for an historically bad team like the current WCE?

Wouldn't it be funnier to you if he did? 🤔

A little from column A
…..and a little from B
(Yes I’d actually like him to play for you guys)

Whose spot in the Dog's side/midfield is he going to replace?

Bont, Richards and Libba are the only midfield locks. Behind them there’s a pool of Kennedy, Freijah, Sanders, Treloar that can be shuffled around. Then backups in Harmes & Garcia.

Robertson probably fits into that second group and keeps the last two out of midfield. He’s less versatile than each in that second group though, so it’s not an obvious fit. Possibly Libba insurance and hope he can click at half forward.

Considering the Dogs would probably be able to get him as a delisted free agent or for a future 4th at most, it's worth a shot.

Libba and Treloar have to be close to the end and nobody's sure what Sanders will be doing when Tasmania joins the league so a bit of added depth could come in handy.

Though if Dev ever wants to be a best 23 player I think the Eagles are his best bet.

He did look good in his draft year.

At a guess, Dev is better than any draftee we'd be likely to pick up at our 3rd selection this draft.

After missing out on Erasmus, there must be a role for a mature mid on our list. Dev seems the next target.
