2025 List Management Discussion - Part 4

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th

Was just thinking about how many posts I’ve read over the last few years along the lines of:

“What exactly does that useless so and so Gubby Allen do at the club?”

Well if nothing else, I suppose we now know 😃🙏👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

You can also have a generational draft and unluckily pick the wrong guy. It's all risk. With Flanders, there is minimal risk that he flops.
Yes and what I'm saying is if this was a generational draft, this would be a clear overpay based on what we know of Flanders and the likelihood of picking up a gun with that pick considering the probabilities. If it's an average draft I'd argue it's still an overpay. If it's a shithouse draft then I'm fine with it.

I'll be cheering louder than anyone. Decades of pain will do that.

I'm just not convinced trading FRPs for non-elite 24 year olds is a winning strategy.

Again, I'll be very happy if I'm proven wrong.
Who hurt you?

Have you bothered to read the post on the plethora of hacks taken with pick 7 in previous drafts? Noting this 7 becomes 10+

With Pick 7 or with what Pick 7 ended up being on draft night? Because our pick will be at the very least Pick 10 on the night.

Ohhh mate, they've talked about where pick 7 ended up being, what ended up being pick 7 after bids and father sons, they've talked about players picked at 7 who ended up #7 at their clubs, they've talked about the shape of the number 7. If the number 7 is involved, these pricks have prattled on about it.

That's a pretty impressive stats sheet from last year. And went to another level when moved into the middle full time.

not sure how anyone could look at this, as a 23 year old in a stacked mid, and say hes not elite. Moved around heaps this year, stick him back where he belongs and look out. Imagine if a 23 year old that we drafted had a year like this?? we'd be losing our damn minds

Essendon,(like the Saints) dont appear to rate it either, chasing 1 higher pick to give up on picks 5&6

it will be Pick 8 by the end of today. there's another easy hour of content

Might be a silly question but is there a legitimate chance we keep Marshall? Keen to see what the tdk combo looks like. Think he's worth more to us than what the cats would pay
Not silly at all imo
Dont think we're gonna trade romar unless we're the winners in any trade scenario. I don't think he's "desperate" to get out but if you're getting recruited by a team that made the GF this year and have no competition for your spot, plus its in the same state, then asking for a trade makes sense.

But he was pictured with his arm around TDK training together so if a trade doesnt go through, i dont think he'll consider it the end of the world

Well he won't be getting his Cotton On bonuses they promised him

Like Joel Selwood, Jordan Lewis, Paddy Ryder, Daniel Rich, Josh Caddy, Ollie Wines, Bailey Smith and Hayden Young?

St Kilda recently used FRP's on Nas, Phillipou and Tauru, all lower than 7.

Owens and Windhager were a lot lower, too...

Why don't you go look at who was drafted from pick 8 onwards, last time St Kilda traded their FRP. 2019.

Anyway, I've noticed a pattern here, since I started visiting this forum this year.

1. St Kilda does something
2. Neutral fans criticise it
3. St Kilda's fans on this forum think anyone who opposes it is a "miserable campaigner" and the only reasonable view is full support, otherwise you're a traitor who must be a Collingwood fan trolling the forum
4. Rinse and repeat
