2025 Draft Order

Current Draft Picks:
Round 1: 1, 2, 13
Round 2: 34, 41
Round 3: 53, 58 (These picks are in excess of available list spots so will be forfeited if we don’t consolidate our 2025 picks up the order or trade some for future picks)

List Spots Available (39 of 48):
• Main list (33 of 38) - 5* (in: Starcevich, Young out: Allen, Ryan, Chesser, Hunt, Petruccelle, Jamieson)
• Cat A rookie list (5 of 8) - 3* (in: Robertson (pending), out: Rawlinson)
• Cat B rookie list (1 of 2) - 2 (out: Livingstone)

* Based on Dewar being upgraded after the maximum 3 years on the rookie list. Hutchinson may also have been upgraded but this isn’t confirmed - if it is we will have 4 main and 4 rookie list spots open

* Matthew Clarke has stated we have 5 main list spots

Matt Clarke wraps up the trade period - 6PR

Any threat to Carlton to re-select Chesser are now possible. Blues will need to trade. Unfortunately I think it will at best have a 3 in front of it.
Would Carlton have any interest in our F2? 10 for Chesser + our F2 values Chesser around pick 27. A swap of later picks gets that value down (34 for 41 for example).

It's ok. Definitely not amazing.
Gives us a chance to get a few more games into our longer term prospects, hopefully they can step up.
Probably about what we would've got for him as compensation next year, so I can live with it.

Good trade for Ryan.

For all those complaining let me point out a few things to consider.

1. He’d be 30 years old next trade period and a free agent. The club wouldn’t be offering him a 2-3 year deal so chances are he leaves, especially after trying to for the past two years. What type of compo do you think we’re going to get? We’d be lucky to get any but let’s say Band 4 at best. That’s still an end of second round. Band 5 is 3rd round.

2.Next years draft won’t be as compromised as this year and with the AFL tightening the rules and values it’s going to be much harder for clubs to match. So better draft, better pick.

3. What do you honestly think a 3rd rounder in the 2027 draft is going to be worth with Tassie coming and already receiving 1,3,5,7,9,13. That’s already pushing the first pick of the third round to 45. Add on top of that our improvement and academy/father and son and that pick is in the 50’s. It’s worthless.

We let him go a year earlier and potentially get a pick at the worst in a good draft anywhere between 25-35. SOLD.

Seeya Flyin Ryan.

Thanks for the memories.

Totally agree with this.
Thanks Flyin Ryan, been a hell of a highlights reel!!

This is a decent trade for our list build and its the maximum value by going early.
This also gives us another pick around 25-30 next year like you say and we have a HUGE amount to do.

Bucket full of NGA/FA prospects that are probably the best group we have ever had and will need draft capital for.
Next years draft is looking very strong so putting eggs into next year is good business.

We haven't finished yet with our elite talent through the draft, we should be firing into 2026 with the aim to do something similar in chasing 2 top 10 picks if we can with all the draft capital we will have.

Another elite mid, another best available, another KPD of the highest calibre as starters.

I wonder if Dovaston is rising up the Eagles draft board. The write up sounds very much in the Watson prototype which is definitely a shortage for us. Realistically none of Cripps, Long, Newton, Owies should be getting a game if we are going in the right direction.

Sad to see Liam go. He provided some all time memories for us.

2020 Hub List Remaining:
Liam Duggan
Tom Cole
Tim Kelly
Jake Waterman
Jamie Cripps
Bailey Williams
Harry Edwards

We are almost free of the rot friends.

And then there were four

Yeo
Duggan
Cole
Cripps

Premiership players from 2018 still on the list

Wonder what the least amount of years a premiership team has evaporated by 7years ago and to only have 4 guys left seems a reasonably quick drop.

Maybe a question for the useless stats bloke.

Ryan will be missed on game day no doubt - clearly a best 22 player and one of our genuine X factor types

To counter that -
• If it wasn’t this year he’d be gone as a UFA next so we’re talking about one more year of Ryan only
• He’s had surgeries on both hamstrings and while he proved durable this year he will always be a ticking time bomb
• Good mentor for the indigenous lads but he’s the antithesis of a training standard setter. He’s not a good trainer and the unkind would describe him as lazy although I wouldn’t go that far personally
• Many critics of the club have accused us of being soft on players and giving them too much leeway- Ryan would be Exhibit A in that case
• We are tight on list spots so trading Ryan out gives us the ability to bring another draftee in like Tylah Williams or Koby Evans
• His absence gives us 23 games across the season to provide development opportunity to another player
• It also allows McQualter to expand the role and responsibility given to a player like Brockman or Champion

I’ll miss not watching him out there for West Coast and the thought of him in a Saints jumper is borderline nauseating but it’s part of moving on from the ghosts of recent seasons

I don't really care about the FF3, but losing Ryan and getting nothing but a futures pick back is a bit bleh.

Understand there's an apparent premium for future picks, but there's only so long we can kick the can down the road. Would've been nice to see something help us improve NOW.

Our forward stocks are all sorts of pathetic now. Cripps is basically 50. Then there's Owies who's got no business even being on an AFL list. Champion is a bit of a work in progress. I like Newton but he's a scrapheap pick.

Probably makes getting Dovaston in the draft more important now.

People complaining about it being a future pick and not this one appear to not understand that were likely only going into the draft with 3 live picks, most likely in the top 10, with the others to match bids on Williams, Banfield and Evans.

Another 2nd rounder this year is worthless if we can already use what we currently have to trade up for one of GC's top 10 picks.

Came for the Ryan farewell.

Stayed for the melts about losing a mid 50s pick two years in the future.

Our 3rd rounder will be a lot higher than that as we'll be the premiers.

He should be, he’s incredible. Elite ground ball player, aerial ability, high volume of shots, can go into the middle, works hard across the ground, insanely agile, very quick.

He’s just about the full package as a small forward.

You do realise we get more picks next year ?

A R1,R2,R3,R4…

Now we have an extra R2 pick that will come in useful for another (hopefully top 30 pick) or to match a bid on one of our NGA players/Harper Banfield

We didn’t need another pick this year
