Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Is Pav the new Mark Ricciuto? 😂

Wouldn't trust anything coming out of that bloke's mouth!

This whole 'lifestyle' discussion doesn't really make sense. As a Sydney resident, I can confirm that it's a little bit bigger than Geelong, has 10 better beaches within a 20km radius but as a marquee player, the media will be all over him!

As I said, lifestyle reasoning is a load of garbage, oh, and don't forget he has a bride that will need to be in the spotlight!

Any player that's desperate to leave in the peak of their career for a 'lifestyle' change is a red flag imo.

You've got like 5-6 years left of your career. Have your relaxed beachside lifestyle after that.

First Geelong have the audacity to offer us 2 early second rd picks and one late 2nd rd pick .
Sydney say we can Better that we’ll give you pick 11 ,F1 (16-20) Hayward and Florent for pick 22 and Curnow .

Other Clubs are treating us like fools and I hope we don’t play the Jester .
100% Take that deal and might as well shut up shop. Florent is a spud, Hayward is worth about pick 30. Pick 11 is in a compromised draft and should Charlie fire up we are talking 18 next year. This is almost as bad as Geelong's offer.

2x firsts
1x player who would finish top 10 in our BnF easily
1x player who slots in comfortably as a HBF, HFF or winger in our best 22

You are kidding hahahaha
Not disagreeing with you but you can also look at it this way
1 mid 1st round
1 late 1st round Next year (so not as valuable and not guaranteed value)
1 player that has never finished in their own top 10 BnF
1 player that they don't even want going forward and was dropped this year on a long term contract

It's what we can turn the picks into that matters in 5yrs time if those picks are guns then we it's a win so don't eff it up Austin and the talent scouts
Picks 10,11 & 22 is a strong draft hand considering we had nothing a month ago!

We could package this and move up the order, or trade onto 2026.

I think the three seasons before this last we did. He was basically a top 10 player in the comp the whole time. Except playoffs. The hope he'd come good and stop sulking was basically the only reason I watched after week 4 this year. If we have a similar start next season I imagine there'll be a huge drop off. This boards successfully changed the narrative of how ****ing incredible this bloke is at footy to lessen the blow of him turning his back on the club. If he does leave. Genuinely know of scores of kids who'll just follow the club he goes to or stop watching.
My boys are 7 & 9, posters of Charlie on the wall and 30 on 1 or 2 of their guernseys. Disappointed for a day or 2 when it became clear he was going. They've already moved on. Still Baggers, no problem.

Agree. Also need to look at what does Hayward bring as a package and not just look at goals kicked.

Curnow and Hayward have both played 9 seasons of football, and comparing their outputs over this period Curnow has:

Played 149 games to Haywards 184.
Kicked 313 goals to 229.
Kicked 201 points to 134.
Been involved in 80 goal assists to 81.
Had 450 i50s to 331.
Laid 238 tackles to 514.
Had 23 clearances to 75.

Hayward brings a lot to the forward line, may not kick as many goals as a stay at home forward - probably because he’s working hard laying tackles up the ground and creating opportunities for his teammates.
You've convinced me. Hayward for Charlie in a straight swap. Do it Austin!

Florent cops a bit of stick, but I have no doubt in my mind, that Florent is not only a walk up starter into our team, but he actually looks good in it with his pace. I think we forget just how slow we are lol.

The worst part of Florent is his contract. But as a player, he will be great.
Florent was a consistent best 22 player under Longmire for years in a side that was always contending. He even finished top 10 in our B&F a few times, which says a lot about his consistency.

We’ve just ended up with too many running flanker types, and he’s been squeezed out of a defined role because of that. At most clubs, he’d still be comfortably best 22. He still played 16 games this year, so it’s not like he’s fallen off a cliff.

He’s not a star, but he’s the kind of reliable 15–22 range player every good side needs. Brings pace, can break lines, and helps generate overlap. In a team that lacks run, he’ll make an immediate impact.

I’m not shattered to lose him like I would be with Hayward, but he’s a good pickup and will do a solid job for you.

Keep Charlie, use a late pick for Florent with Swans taking some of his salary and use the picks we've got to cash in for more points for Dean and Ison.

We've added run to our list and addressed some needs, have another pre-season into the kids who showed a bit, add to the list through known players in the draft. That's a good enough off season.

If we can trade out a Binns for a useful pick or pay out a Fogarty for list spaces then even better.

Re-set and then go again next year. We'll do what we need to do to match a Cody bid then.

Totally fair counter points

I’m happy overall but thank you for presenting the argument nonetheless
