If somehow, our little late muck around with Curnow, made Sydney cough up a bit more to secure him, well done, if not, no damage done really.

Brady master plan - swans use up all the draft collateral and can’t match McCartney bid
So it’s the open draft or nmfc young man

Why the **** is he going foward?
Ben king is why

Drafted as a back like Matlock

Tom Mitchell worth a look or..?

Nope... No "J" involved.

I believe J may still be on his way as a DFA. He might even take top billing over Spargo of our Dees recruits!;)

Unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be this year KK, however don’t stress my furry friend as I’ve got a very strong feeling we’ll nail our ‘letter J’ superstar in 12 months time..

Lock it in Brady/Euge/Viney/Thirsty-field..

Biggest thing we need to do this offseason….

1, 2 and 3- give our young developing KPP consistency!!! W.Dawson shouldn’t move from FB in the VFL or AFL
M.Whitlock pick one and stick to it (I’ll concede for him he has ability to be a swing with his assets)

Draft defensive minded players and KPP.
I like Barker if available as my preference, I’ve really come around to Emmett and am starting to favour him of Lud given his freakish athleticism.

Lock Ah-Mu in! Could be our Hawkins!
Like it. Has that frame to put fear in defenders. Just have to figure out if he's good for his age because he's huge or if he's good and just happens to be huge.
I think we'd be pretty happy with any of Emmett, Ludowyke, Curtin or Ah-Mu.
I like Ah-Mu a lot, a big unit, nice kicking action, agile for a big man, endurance would be the question mark on him.
Certainly him and Cody Curtin have that bigger body and not so much the speed and tank.
Louis Emmett has the endurance and reach and he will fill out like a Daniher or Cadman just looking at him.
Ludowyke a bit the same, not sure on his tank. Emmett had a strong 2km time trial.
Might depend who is still on the board at our picks in the end.

What type of player should we look for with our picks #25 and #26 ..
Hey kk, now that is a very good question. The answer can be identified by a lot on here that know our list inside out and can see with what we've got and what we actually need. If we don't trade into the first round, I know what Brady said but we are not giving our cards away so lets just wait and see, then options are aplenty.

The first thing before we start is to know how many picks we are going to use, we are going to find out the answer to that question very soon. Whether its two picks or three, a key forward has to be one of those picks, or if its say three picks we may get a player that has slipped down the order and we may rate him highly so its never a set & forget plan of attack, and get get a player we believe wont be there at our next pick so we draft him and with our last pick we get our key forward who was always going to be there at our last pick.

So, 2 picks in the national draft, namely pick 25, a running defender/wingman, pick 26, a key forward and of course we pick up a player we delisted for other pick, for our official three picks.
For the three pick scenario it might look like this, 25, a running defender/wingman, pick 26, a key forward, and our last pick a ruckman, we've gone down the path of experienced ruckmen in Free & Teakle so maybe we draft our own boy just like we did with Taylor.:)

I'd agree a 28 year old is likely not the player you want to be targeting with that type of deal, but we would've known there was zero chance of him coming to us. If anything it's more a signal to the playing group and fans that we are asking the question, as well as a message to other players and managers in contract or coming OOC that we're prepared to pay up for a quality player, but preferably more your Walter or Humphrey type.

Agree it's a little confusing of what that would have meant for Whitlock's development, probably goes down back.
Need to stop experimenting and settle these kids in some roles.

I think we've put far too much stock in high end picks as being the solution.
You are the first to point out how many have been supposedly blown on players you think are spuds and those who are not at the club anymore. You can't just rely on high end talent, need to find and develop good players in R2/R3/R4.

I would speculate most recruiters would probably want to get out of the Tassie drafts and trade for players during that period because those picks have less value.

Well turn's 29 before a ball is kicked in anger for season 2026, and firstly focusing on Lord Cunrow, his career imo isn't top shelf. 9 seasons 50 plus goals 3 times. Besides 2022-2024 not much to write home about.

Not sure who we're signaling, for mine it reeks of desperation as in people concerned for their jobs. But yes we agree we've told Whitlock he's moving forward and then attempt to pull this stunt.

I'm a big believer in latter draft rounds holding the key to success, all clubs normally get one first rounder per year.
Hardeman, Curtis, hopefully Goater and George can continue on their current trajectory or have some luck and spend more time on the ground than the medical room.

We wouldn't have McKercher, Wardlaw or Sheezel had we not had early picks. I'm not a draft watcher but sheesh we traded our pick 4 this year ( yes a 2 for 1 deal) and we could end up big winners. Time will tell.

So the last few seasons looked like this

2022 10 wins 12th
2023 10 wins 14th
2024 8 wins 15th
2025 9 wins 13th

So no first rounder in seasons 2025, 26 & 27, should in my book equal a public execution for all involved. As per the above I think we need to win 9/10 games in 2026 or it's time for change. The last few seasons 9 wins will probably equate to a top 6 pick.

I wouldn't swap pick 6 for Lord Curnow, let alone everything else we offered. Just my opinion of course :)

Tom Mitchell worth a look or..?

Could be a decent shout for that last development coaching role. The bloke is as professional and as smart as they come. If we were looking at Boak and Ward, I see no reason why we wouldn’t investigate Mitchell.

If I was west coast I’d be rookie-ing him straight away.

The Curnow play reeks of irony for me.

One of my biggest bugbears in the last 6 years was how the Club completely botched Ben Brown's exit and smashed his trade value in the process.

We got something like Pick 28 for him but for Curnow we were happy to handover multiple first rounders.

Compare the pair at the same time of their careers. BBB was 28, had kicked 287 goals in 130 games at an average of 2.21 per game.

Curnow (will be) 29 and has kicked 313 goals in 149 games at the lesser average of 2.10 per game.

They both had kicked more than 50 goals in 3 consecutive years - Curnow came away with two Coleman medals but in one of those - 2022 - had the same haul as Brown did 2019.

In terms of the most important statistic of all for a KPF, kicking scores, barely a difference.

Granted Brown carried a knee in his last year with us, and he never reached the same heights at Melbourne, but we clearly got massive unders when compared to what Carlton got for Curnow purely based on output.
