Whats happening with Kenny?

unfortunately modern day forwards need endurance almost on par with the midfielders, hence why athletes with long distance endurance are preferred in the afl.

The ability to hold out opponents is more centered through your core not your upper body. Someone with a lower centre of gravity often has a better advantage than a taller player. See Modra for example. He was not the strongest bloke in the club but was almost impossible to move him off his line due to his core stability strength and knowledge of how to use it (the most important bit).

Kenny is a long distance athlete, always has been, always will be. You can increase someones speed to a certain extent but mostly it is genetics that is more important (fast twitch fibres) in determining if someone will be a world class sprinter.

You'd be surprised ;)

Modra in fact WAS the strongest player at the club in his time here despite never doing much weights. I remember talking to someone from the club a while ago about Mods and the story was along the lines of Mods being in the corridor talking to someone where he heard cheers from the weights room. He went over to see what the fuss was about and found that one of his team mates broke his record for bench press. Mods cooly put on some extra weights and beat the new record and just walked out of the weights room to the amazment of others :D

But I do agree that its more about core strength than upper body strengths and despite looking a bit skinny, McGregor is a pretty strong lad.

Not talking about turning him into a world class sprinter. Simply correcting the assumption that increased bulk means he will loose speed, by making the observation that sprinters are bulky.

BTW - McGregor signs for 2 years.

The report also mentioned that Damon White is looking for a trade as he feels he will be starved of opportunities and that Adelaide appears to be the likely destination.

Could a trade be worked on its own or would we looked to be involved in a 3 way with your Hudson/Meeson manouvers.

As I have already said, Kenny's not going anywhere just yet. He may have said he wants out, but we are not going to just give him away. Come next season with a bit more bulk Kenny will be the jewel in NCs revamped forward line, playing as a stay at home FF or FP.

As I said.

Thanks for the heads up Stiffy - I knew he was strong but also knew he didn't do a lot of weights. Was that little story prior to one M Rucciuto doing his work on the weights ;) I still remember Mods pushing a richmond defender back from the top of the square to the fence when the guy had a good foot on him, looked around to check the goal ump wasn't watching and then decked him one :D That's what opposition players got when they tried to rough up his mate Hodges....

Yeah Kenny is pretty good at holding his ground unlike that skinny rake we have at chb sometimes ;)

Coming from a gymnastics background - core strength is the most important to develop.

As I said in the other thread, with Kenny staying, Hentschel coming back, prospects of drafting Walker and with Gill, Tippett and Sellar on the list, I would be extremly disappointed if we do in fact go after White. Especially considering that he is contracted and Port would want to bend us over and molest us in the process.

Say NO to Damon White

White to the Crows? :thumbsd: Won't happen though, we're not that stupid. Channel 10 really have no idea, they're only putting this out there because we were interested two years ago.

As for McGregor staying. :thumbsd: Only stayed because he realised he would've played out his days with the Eagles if the Crows hadn't thrown him a lifeline.

(I agree you take Ch10 news at face value)

Personally I think McGregor staying means it may be Bulldogs we talk to .... if we talk. His reasoning apparently was opportunity which is fair enough.

All I can say though is if he WAS going for better opportunities and Adelaide WAS his preferred destination then it would suggest they thought he had something to offer..... although its probably more likely that Ch10 have put together Damon looking for opportunities with the fact Adelaide were keen on him a couple years ago.

And your telling me the Adelaide fitness staff don't know that core strength is critical and don't work this with all the players?

I did notice in another thread that you were not convinced on Sellar yet (I think it was you). I'm sure there is some level of doubt over Hentschel given the injury he copped, while Gill probably is more suited to a third tall option at AFL level.

Depth player only. At least it signals the end of Perrie.

So Kenny's still a Crow. I guess he will be a pretty handy player to have if injuries deem it necessary. Give him a few weeks off and then chuck him on the running machine, set it to high and walk away.

By all reports only if you would be happy with a thrid round pick as this seems that we wont be getting anything else for Hudson or Messen.

Made a good headline, but don't see White leaving Port to tell you the truth.

Just announced on Ch 9 news in Adelaide McGregor will stay with the AFC and Damon White is seeking a trade from Port Power possibly to the AFC:thumbsu:

I hope the thumbs up part is soley for the Kenny part (even then its a stretch)
