Scraping the barrel now.
Spent two years in the AFL, SNAFL premiership player, two years as talent manager and a development coach at an SNAFL club. So you're convinced there's no way he can step up to a development coach's role at Port?

At the end of the day, the truth about anyone who would go into this role is that they won't be quality/experienced coaches. I dont know whether Clisby is good or not but he's not someone that's going to be having a massive say in things in terms of plan. In terms of helping with execution sure, that will be his job. But its not a role that's going to make it or break it in terms of how we fare next season.

Good luck to Mitch!

Only Clisby I know from North was Trevor who played in the 70’s.
This guy must be related to him somehow.
Trevor played for North's in the 80's thru to early 90's including the 1987 and 1991 flags, (I think also in both 1985-86 losing GFs) and was an inaugural member of the crows 52 man squad, but never played for them as he was injured early in 1991 before games started and was cut at the end of 1991.

Not long after I moved to Sydney in the early 90's he was transferred to Sydney with Westpac, was an executive in corporate banking and a bloke I knew who played for Sydney Uni Footy Club worked with him at Westpac. He played a bit of footy in Sydney - can't remember who for* - but I saw him playing against Sydney Uni one day when I caught up with my mate.

After about 20 years, he set up Strategy One Sports in Sydney with his wife and others, and has an Adelaide Office, to manage AFL players, but early days did the odd sports star from other sports. He got involved with the early days of GWS managing a lot of their players transition to Sydney and playing AFL.

Hopefully Mitch is close to his uncle and can use his contacts when need be.

* My memory kicked into gear and I thought it was Pennat Hills I saw him play for at Sydney Uni oval in 1993. Looked it up and it was, and seeing Kim Klomps name I remembered he played as well in that game. From their history page;

During the 90’s the club’s reputation resulted in an influx of more players from South Australia namely Trevor Clisby, Kim Klopp, Peter Bennett, Tim Noonan, Greg Byrne and Richard Gerke. Adam Grossman came to us from another Sydney club. These players certainly had an influence on the standard of play and came at a crucial time in the club’s history.

So will Mitch Clisby be working with Stuart Graham? Hopefully he has some fresh ideas about fitness and conditioning. I would have thought developing players who do not get run over in last quarters would be a priority.

On last season's woeful last quarter performances Graham should have been sacked.

Welcome to Alberton Mitch.

Hopefully this is one of those Carr has been watching blokes for a while and thought he had a lot of potential and when he had some power, he always had it in the back of his mind that he might ask him into a position and then see how it goes.

I mean, sometimes you invest in skills and sometimes you invest in the man.

Personally I think the more on-field staff we have who have absolutely no connection to the previous incumbent the better. We all asked for a new broom, and I for one am impressed that this has happened so far, even if the circumstances aren't ideal.

Now for the off-field personnel :p .

The last of them seem to be leaving of their own accord.

The only remnants of the coaching staff now would be Lobbe and Sutcliffe.
