2026.

We're a flag chance from 2027-2036

So is Tasmania.

North has won 20 games in the past 6 seasons, with only 5 wins last year, all of which were against struggling opposition.

Relying on Luke Parker, Jack Darling & Caleb Daniel is a short-term fix; but they are not the leaders of your next premiership side.

Who does North rely on for leadership qualities? Three guys from other clubs nearing retirement and a former captain who tried to leave for Collingwood during trade week.

Not a bad outcome.

Two KP talls for a quick mid / forward who was hard to rank.

North didnt need Grilj and they needed talls.

Certainly not the stuff up many thought at the time. Some saying the worst trade ever.

I think North fans will be ok with this on paper now after the brain fart that was the 2024 draft and trading period.

If they hadn’t have ponied up their early second last year they would have had Whitlock at that pick and probably also X Taylor this year.

Taylor, Whitlock, Dovaston
vs
Whitlock, Dovaston, Thredgold, Daniel

was essentially the outcome for them

Dude, you need to get a grip on reality as you're incredibly wrong.

You call last year (2025) a failure. As someone that is an expert on shit football (near on 25 years or my entire adult life) I can tell you with absolute certainty that there were a number of factors which caused us not to improve as much as hoped.

Let's just take a gander...

Archer - best lock down small defender (<5 games)

Goater - HBFr with Height, Kicking Depth, Pace, defensively apt (0 games), pick~22

George - great kick, size and excellent pace (0 games) Pick <25

Wil Dawson- beat SDarcy for 3 Q in game 1. (<5 games) Pick ~20

MWhitlock - moves ok and is tall (<5 games) Pick 27 (7)

Goad at 206cm, is assuming 2nd ruck spot from Darling at some point in next 12 months (you'd expect). Pick ~20

Wardlaw & Curtis both missed the Port and Ess games which we'd have won, had they played - maybe even Freo away which we lost by a kick. (Curtis would be pushing AA Squad with 20+ games).

We were doing this with a bunch of kids (2nd youngest in AFL), some genuine dross (Daniel, Tucker et al), poor fitness and availability of some of our most important players, these senior mercenaries are merely keeping some spots warm for talented kids.

I just feel you're underselling upside, and with a bit of luck and easier draw, we're not out of discussions for "Wildcard Weekend" at all.

This season Norfs 1st games were;
Bulldogs
Melbourne
Crows (Away)
Swans
Blues
Lions (Away in Barossa)
Pies (we did lose by 1 point)
...
Cats x2
Suns x2
*WCE (Away in Bunbury)
Freo (Away in Perth)

2026 is;
Port (Home)
WCE (Away in Perth)
Essendon
Carlton
Brisbane (Barossa)
Richmond

I know which one you'd prefer.

So you'll start the season 0-6; then use the excuse that the players you mentioned have all played less than 10 career games.

Potentially. In a another world we're 3-0 heading into a packed Good Friday and win and our kids get to experience what your lads do every week basically.

Think you Richmond fans are seriously underestimating how good of a player matlock will be.
Quite a few rated talls in that draft, we took a few as well.

Trade will probably be a win win, the pick this year really helped us address an additional need.

Gotta laugh at the North fans. Richmond is much more mature well run club that has outclassed them in their rebuild debatably. To even have a debate is laughable with the amount of bottom finishes.
Talk about premature gloating.

Both our teams are shit until they prove that they're not.

Up until not long ago Richmond was a basket case and their fans were spitting on their own players as they walked off.

A purple patch and three flags and all that is forgotten.

Time will tell if Richmond can rebuild faster than North or the Eagles. It certainly isn't a given as many Richmond posters are alluding to.

Nah, it won’t be until 2028 at least, and that’s if those in charge picked the right ones and got their development right.

There’s plenty more runway in this thread for Norf.
I'll miss it and some of you Tiges. I'll pop in occasionally to see how you're going.

You'll be right though, seriously, being strong and bold and all that and from

Geez I’d hope we’d be rebuilding quicker than Norf.

They hit the rest button in 2019 under Rhys Shaw. That’s seven years ago. And they aren’t getting close to a flag in the next couple of years at least, and that’s being conservative.

We are probably on par with the Eagles. And they started a couple of years earlier and begged for handouts. Both clubs a mile off still.

We beat you by 50 points with our two leading goal kickers not playing.

All three clubs are a mile off.

That was 21 years ago. By your logic up until not long ago Kangaroos were winning flags

Well yes 3 flags and it is. Feast or famine baby.
