Do Collingwood need to enter a rebuild phase?

How far back are you going ?

Jackson, Pickett, Rivers, Langford, Lindsay, Windsor etc. aren't stuff ups.

Are you going back almost 20 years to the Scully era ? FFS

And Gawn was pick 34 in 2009. You call a top 35 pick a ''late pick'' ?

You have some strange views, Son. At least Fadge seems to enjoy your rubbish.
Funny how you complete avoid the part where you had your strongest list of all time and only made 1 GF and lost almost every single final you played in afterwards.

With Tassie coming in soon the Pies have left a rebuild way to late. They are in deep trouble moving forward !

Why rebuild if you've done the maintenance? Only slack owners don't do the maintenance. Responsible folk keep up with their chores. And their organisations keep chugging along nicely....

Then again, some folk just love a good bonfire I guess...

Yep talking the last 25 years at least. You need to go back at least 10 years to get a fair look at draft picks and how they turned out. Melbourne's rebuilds since making a GF at the turn of the century have more often been poor then not. A lot of high draft picks for little return until they got a few goodies going between 2009 and 2019. Even lately I'm a little worried that they have gone full North with the rebuild. Never go full North.
I thought Grawn was later then 34 but even so 34 was a 3rd round pick in 2009.

leave them alone. they have done it 6 times already this century and about to do it again!
No no no lets talk about this serious issue here, Pies the oldest list in the league and with Tassie coming in with all the fancy draft oicks which half they'll have to trade for players, the poor old Pies might be left at the starting gate.

34 is 34 whether it's second round or 5th round.

Old mate Robertio suggests I'm 'TriGGeReD' by this thread by virtue of my posting in it....

So for those predicting an inevitable massive cliff for Collingwood, tell us all about it....

When does it start, how long does it go for, and how bad does it get?

Let's go.
You won't play finals for 8 years with any hope of actually being premiers.

So at least 8, not in Norf-styled wilderness, but more Carlton than you'd wish.

You are saying Collingwood should move and hope to make finals in 8 years time from now as your argument that it can be done..

Id say if it took you 8 years to do something, then it isnt something worth doing
Again with something that was never said. You’re unbelievable.

I’m saying Collingwood could have moved to rebuild in 2025 by hitting the draft, and got in ahead of Tassie.

Instead they tried for the top up and the she’ll be right, and now look like they’re on the precipice of a big fall.

"Now"?

We have been dancing on the cliff edge like an ergot affected mountaineer for 5 seasons.

So the serious issue isn't Carlton entering their 5th rebuild in 25 years, with barely a finals win to show for it, but instead it's Collingwood, who have contended for a flag in 3 of the past 4 years, and who you predict might not contend at some stage in the short to medium term?

Not sure the regular maintenance can be applied here.
Have basically just relied on mature age ready made top ups.
The spread of young talent is thin.

Clubs that have remained at the top of the tree for an extended period without bottoming out have either got lucky with F/S or academy kids.
Or landed big name free agents.
Yep we got luck with f/s, not so with big name free agents. Still we've been in finals bar 4 years since 2010 when we had what should've been a dynasty team.

So what's your point? Are you gonna asterisk our time at the top of the tree because of those?

Yep you have based around a strong core of now close to the end players.
While this core was there it was seen as an attractive place to join.
Not so much looking forward now.

Keep Carlton out of it mate this a Collingwood rebuild thread so remember where you are.

OK. We'll see.

But good of you to at least share a prediction.
Good to see you enjoying this thread mate and we know everyones opinion is wrong and only yours is right but the general feeling amongst us nuetrals is the Pies need to start a rebuild ASAP.
