Notes:
Pedlar needs to find form in the SANFL

Fogarty is still not right. J Ralph just covered this. He’s not playing.

I understand that most will likely prefer the untried Edwards over Dowling to replace Soligo. Personally I just don’t think Edwards is good enough to be an AFL midfielder from what I’ve seen at SANFL level and in the preseason games. I would bring in Dowling who honestly hasn’t ever played a “poor” AFL game, and is a far more effective half forward than almost all of our current midfield crop so there’s a viable spot to rest him when he’s not in the guts rather than plonking a midfielder out of position like we do with most of the others on the fringe.

This won’t be a popular statement, but Michalanney has been a liability since late in 2025 and is lucky to be getting a game. He cannot hit the side of a house by foot and is struggling big time once the ball hits the deck.

Taylor needs 10 centre bounce attendances in this game. He’s a far better stoppage player than most of our other mids and his hands and evasiveness in tight are exquisite.

Laird just holds his spot due to the Hinge injury and Chayce Jones being incompetent.

Nankervis is pretty lucky to be retained too tbh. Again, the Hinge injury saves him. Had some nice moments in the 4th qtr so at least is running out games well (unlike 70% of the team).

Maley is never going to get a stack of it but I think it’s vital to keep Thilthorpe out of the ruck, so one of Maley or T Murray needs to be in the side. Happy to stick with Moose.

What can Soligo do that Dowling can't?

Borlase was just a stop gap until Butts was ready.

Multiple times BF said Hinge was underdone and whaddya know.

Out: Soligo, Borlase, Hinge
In: Dowling, Butts, Edwards
Can he play as a genuine forward because that's how Nicks is playing Soligo right now. 12 disposals, 1 goal and 2 GA with 66% TOG.

Definitely Hinge and Borlase out. Soligo touch and go, might survive if he's able to play given the other injuries.

Butts definitely in. Bond likely, Dowling possible if Soligo is not good to go. Personally I expect it'll just be Butts and Bond for Borlase and Hinge.

Should be some consideration of Draper, fitness permitting. I suspect he's a while off though. Edwards is the other option but not sure he's better than the other available choices.

These are the changes.

Draper to play four qtrs in the midfield in SANFL.

Woz will be fine. He had a mare. It happens.

He's got a 9 day break now. Leave him be.

I doubt we'll drop Soligo, but we should, reckon Taylor goes before him. Edwards HAS to play.

Borlase hasnt really put a foot wrong in the last 2 weeks, having a 4th KPD as handy as him is a great thing. Buttsy is a better option though of course.

Hinge shouldnt have played. You dont bring guys back in after a half of a SANFL game, especially not with how fast the game is early in the piece. Shame as he did make a positive difference. Cumming goes to half back and Billy onto a wing.

The biggest question is.... what do we do with Fog ?? Maley playing his role fine, but with St Kilda having 2 genuine rucks you just know ROB will be on the radar. Or do we do what we should and give Fog a week or 2 in the 2s to get some form and confidence back.... assuming he's fit to go.

Is Hinge a confirmed hamstring?

They showed him on the bench getting his hip worked on in Q1 then he got crunched in the hip in a marking contest just before half time

I wonder if it's a corkie but someone saw an ice pack in the hamstring vicinity and assumed?

I thought the way he was walking was more akin to an impact injury. And you kind of hobble around because it might ease off, when you ping a hammy, you just go straight to the bench.

If it was me.
Out - Laird, Borlase, Soligo, Hinge

Max. Butts. Worrell
Milera. Murray. Nank/Cook
Cumming. Dawson. Cook/Nank
Dowling. Tex. Rankine
ANB. TT. Keays
McAndrew. Peatling. Rachele
Berry. Finbar. Bond. Taylor. Edwards

Borlase did well, if another club knocks, he should open the door, has rarely failed us when needed.

Soligo needs to rehab or learn to find the footy again, most likely the former.

Laird is just useless, nearly every time he gets the ball it’s a negative to team performance.

Reckon he’s also struggling from being a defender and the attacking player, teams are also working out to try and play through his man.
We’ve been Keane and hinge down from back there and they usually take a bit of the pressure off him.

The idea that he can get away with not defending is absurd. Sure, he likely will against shit teams like Essendon, Eagles etc, but good teams will formulate strategies that reduce our strengths and maximise our weaknesses. It’s called opposition analysis and you’re meant to do it to make changes that improve your chances of winning against equal or better teams.

We just refuse to do this, preferring rigid adherence to ‘our way’ and our fixed order of merit.
