He hit the only spot the helmet doesn't protect.
Highly skilled

Not a fan of this from the AFL website.

He might have actually been able to spoil the mark with his right hand but instead chose to round-arm with the left hand well after the mark was taken. Punching the ball was never his intention - it was a little cheapie that will likely cost him some footy in the next week or two. It's not a thug or a dog act but he had other options and knew exactly what he was doing.
Ball had been marked, the hit was late.
Your comment might be reasonable except the mark had been taken before Greene had even drawn back his fist.Don't think he will get anything other than a fine.
He did what every defender does when they get caught behind, swinging a fist in hope the player drops the ball. He's just unlucky the opponent is a midget

And there are defenders who do it every week, the commentary on here surrounding this has been a bit OTT. He will get suspended and deserves it but this type of thing happens reguarly, mostly to the body.
And it's a cheap act when it's to the body too.
Greene is a grub
I don't see players getting injured over buckling their knees.I have the same opinion of guys that buckle at the knees when they feel a tackle.
Each to their own.

Toby Greene was clearly going for the ball, gets charged for "intentional" striking.
Meanwhile Nankervis tries to elbow someone's head off away from the contest and gets "careless conduct".
Would someone care to explain?
When Greene begins to swing his left arm, it is on the correct height to strike the ball, because Daniel took the mark in mid-air. When that arm comes through Daniel is then on the ground, meaning Greene's spoil impacts above the ball into Daniel's head. I believe it was in the contest, but I'm also not ignorant enough to believe that he wouldn't be getting weeks. No way Greene was going for the ball.
^^^Did you even watch the video??
Daniel takes the ball on his chest, takes 2 steps and meets Greene's fist on his mouth. Not "in the contest", not "legitimate", fist comes in head height, not ball height.
