They're not going to have to be in great form to roll us.

Unless Smith has a blinder and a couple of the other boys step up and contribute at least semi-regularly.

Who's making their runs?

They have 1 batsman in their top 7 that average over 40. They have 2 inside that top 7 that average in the mid 20's....

I mean, with Warner and Smith back they have a worse batting lineup than us and we have a much better bowling attack....

These two have done well to blunt the pressure a bit.

Hopefully at least one of them can go on to make a big score for the first time this summer.

Another reason to send him to England for this Ashes series.
Because he dominated on Australian roads against a different English attack while in the form of his life? Yeah, you might be on to something here...

The lure of SMarsh is he looks like a test cricketer. Occasionally he even scores like one.

Inevitablyhe gets dropped and we get to see the "technique"" of his replacements.

Until we find a couple more players that look like they have seen a red ball before there will always be that nagging voice in the back of our heads, "maybe this time SMarsh will be different"

I can’t understand how anyone could still have that voice. I’ve been a defender of his but he’s just too unreliable in the test format. Time to move on.

Look at Shaun's average list there I forgot he was a massive letdown in India despite one innings. Was supposed to be a potential bright spot thanks to that innings in Sri Lanka but it wasn't to be. Runs against England don't mean much, even the ex-England players basically came out and said the whole county system would need a revamp because their bowlers aren't ever given the tools to be effective here. That says it all really, those runs didn't mean much.

Over Marsh's 19 knocks since the Ashes series, he's scored one 50 and has averaged 18. He's done. His Ashes series was magnificent, but look at his performances by series before and after the Ashes.
A move to 5-6 and a supporting role is what he needs

Jesus some people on Cricinfo commenting that White should have had more team in the test team.

Jesus, a couple of wickets and people hit the panic station. I wish we had this team selection at the start of the India test - perfect time to put youth in and see who stands up.

Be good if these two can make it through to the tea break

Or we could just move on and find someone else that can average over 18 over 12 months?

I think the problem is some people carry on like the selectors have short memories, short form isn't the same as long form etc. but the public is just the same. They see Marsh hit runs in the ODIs and the Big Bash and suddenly they forget everything and want him back in the Test side.

Renshaw almost got picked off Queensland grade cricket runs so who knows

He's seen as someone who could have a long future in the Test side and is one of our only prospects to do well in county cricket. It's got nothing to do with grade cricket runs.

Not worried about the runs I'm just so grateful these blokes are soaking up some time and pressure. Now is the time young batsmen learn about themselves and if they're up to it or not

Oh so he's the new Mitch Marsh then
